Jazzy
I intend on doing the odd track day, drag run during the year and was wondering if an oil cooler is a necessity (not just a nice to have). Now I realise anything that's there to protect your engine is a very good idea, and It's on a list of things I'd like to get done, I'm just wondering in the mean time can i 'get away' with it - assuming I was to do say a few spirited laps and then a cool down etc? Also whilst on the subject of cooling, what about an alloy rad? Now I know Ryan did a good job of keeping the ducting to the rad even with the FMIC, so should I only think about upgrading the rad should it need replacing? If there's anything else you think I should consider please let me know
gaz1
if you are going to track the car an oil cooler is advisable on a sigle setup, have you been checking oil temps
mikeyb10supra
I would say so for sure.....just made sure if you fit it yourself everything is fitted very very well, dont want to be spewing oil all over the track
Ryan.G
Would definatly say get an oil cooler for it James if tracking it. Be easy to fit with the doluck bumper as just need to remove the nearside headlight and fit underneith in that bumper pod No need to remove the whole bumper then as TRUST me its a pain!! to get back on. Ryan.G
I wouldn't bother with the rad unless it becomes a problem or the stock one cracks. As your rad is in good condition and well ducted. p.s the engine management light will come on if the temps go over 100c
Nic
I agree fit a least an oil temp gauge, ideally an oil cooler. I personally use the HKS R Type kit, this includes filter replacement kit and everything else needed to install on a Supra. http://www.hks-power.co.jp/products/cooling/oilcooler/img/r_image_01.jpg
Jazzy
p.s the engine management light will come on if the temps go over 100c Mmm nice feature Thanks for the comments guys, sounds like an oil cooler is a good idea then.
SUPRASUZUKI
p.s the engine management light will come on if the temps go over 100c I think the light might be on quite often. I've seen ~100c (top hose) at Snetterton and Cadwell at BPU performance levels.

I well setup single turbo running within its efficiency island wont generate as much heat as a stressed BPU motor
SUPRASUZUKI
I well setup single turbo running within its efficiency island wont generate as much heat as a stressed BPU motor Fairy muff. I was working on the principle that more air and fuel burned = more power = more heat to loose.
Wez
I am not saying dont go for an oil cooler, far from it, I have one on mine and would recommend them on anything that is going to be tracked Mine is a CW install, I dont know ins and outs of it but its never given me any trouble. Jazzy
Does anyone have any feedback on the cooler on Paul's site: http://www.whifbitz.co.uk/supra-cooling.html Seems a good price and comes with everything needed (as far as my limited knowledge can tell).
