B+B in or near Brixton

Can anyone recommend a half decent B+B in or around Brixton area of London, we are going to a concert at the Academy in Feb and we really can't be arsed with all the driving/parking/congestion charge malarky, so we thought about a coach up, overnight stay, coach back jobby.

Doesn't have to be the Ritz, just basic and clean and not too pricey.

Hehe, good luck on that one, you certainly will not find any Ritz type hotels around there and will be lucky to find a basic and clean one that is not used as a part time crack house.

Good luck :)

Yeah, Brixton is a pretty rough area and a B+B would be hard to find. I take it your driving up?? Find somewhere outside of London and just travel back afterwards. Maybe search for "Holiday Inn's" in London.

Looking to travel from Bristol via coach, and the last coach back leaves to early for us to catch it, hence the b+b idea. Already tried Holiday Inns but cost £££'s to make it cost effective. I know Brixton is a pretty rough area as we have been before, but I kinda hoped that a sourounding area which we could get a taxi too after the gig might offer a half decent b+b?

You could try somewhere like Sutton, it is about 5 miles or so south and there is a train station there with a few decent hotels and B&B's.

There could very well be a few places inbetween like Mitcham for instance that might have a decent B&B...

Sorry my memory is not what it used to be as I lived in Sutton for a few years so I really should know the area a bit better.

Cheers guys, have found a few b+b's close by but even they work out at about £65-70 a night, so we have decided to drive (not in the Soop!) park at Richmond station which is a 24 hour car park and just off the M4. The tube trains seem to travel up until around 00.30am so unless the gig is a real late finish we should be ok. Should we miss the last tube, we'll get a taxi back to Richmond. Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated.

You should try Ibis Hotels, I would look to stay around Kingston On Thames and get the train to Clapham and change (or get Bus/night bus) car will be safe in Kingston then...or Wimbledon Wandsworth etc...Brixton is a great place for Culture and great nightlife...but not for flash cars or people flashing expensive things...wallet in front pocket, mobile phone hidden! (just like lots of parts of London/Bristol/Plymouth/Nether Wallop)

Its a place for pedestrains...street wise attitude needed especially at night...but been there loads used to live round the corner, never ever got mugged there...though did get mugged in Chiswick once...for a walkman and a burger he he

Have a good one

Terribleturner: Yeah, must admit, I thought B+B's were cheaper than than, but then it's been years since I last stayed in one!

Off to see a german band called Rammstein, really looking forward to it.

Greenpeace: Have been to Brixton before without any problems also, but we have now decided on driving to Richmond station and getting the tube to Brixton and back, then driving home in the early hours, thanks for the help anyway.

Last time i was at the Brixton Acadamy was watching Therapy while outside the Brixton riots were errupting. My parents were outside down the alley in their car waiting to pick us up and they watched as the riot went past.

Ahhhh Therapy, great band, seen them only last year supporting The Wildhearts

yes you walk straight down the high street chuck a right by clapham north walk down landor road chuck a right at the end walk 200 yds and it is in front of you, now thats about 10-15 mins max. ive only lived here for the last twenty years so i think you will find that is spot on, and if you got a decent supe then under a minute...

yea i guessed u lived nearby in battersea but thinking of comming home at 10 or 11pm, and where exactly would u suggest parking the 'decent' supra? outside brixton station perhaps? not to be funny but if u were to leave your supra around the academy i dont think it would last very long, im very surprised how you have given advise as im only 20 and a lot of my friends live in brixton and stockwell,i wouldnt drive my supra in brixton at night nevermind park it.
