JamieP
I hear loads of talk of people saying it will handle bad with the big wide rims, when i brought mine i went into it thinking that but found the opposite, i had far more grip with them:)

JamieP
Im no expert but i think its when people go from similar width but larger diamiter wheels they notice a reduction in handling.

I do plenty of spirited driving with no problems inc track days I still get wheel spin but not much which is a good thing

Dnk
I like youre new wheels just supprised you can fit 12" to a stock bodied car. The inside lip must be very close to the suspension ?

I was referring more to the width and offset of the rims more than diameter. I'd heard that big offsets associated with wide wheels wear the bearings alot faster. I agree and a bigger diameter cant help either, it must add a lot more load to the hub and all the suspension inc the diff. ive possibly just been lucky, i think a lot depends on the rds you drive on. rob wild
This is not a 'dig' at Matt or large wheels at all but I've always found the following when fitting large wheels over the years to different cars: 1) Aquaplaning in the wet/slippery roads at their is less force across the tyre 2) tram-lining 3) Harsh ride 4) Road noise 5) Greater wear on suspension components 6) Reduced braking effect because of the extra weight of the wheel 7) More grip in the dry but due to the smaller tyre wall the car when cornering will break away with less warning or feel. But they do look "cool" Hence why i was really worried about moving from stock 16" to 18" TTE wheels and will be buying some 17" stock wheels for track days. I think it's a case of striking a balance between the two, unless you are going all out for performance or looks.
