Arrested, caged and DNA tested - for using MP3 player!

A commuter was arrested at gunpoint and had his DNA and fingerprints taken simply for listening to his MP3 player while waiting for a bus.

Darren Nixon was surrounded by armed police after his music player was mistaken for a gun.

When a passer-by saw the 28-year-old get out his black Philips machine to change tracks, she panicked and dialled 999.

Rest of story at Metro.co.uk although I haven't seen it anywhere else!

And you keep the lighter in the car just in case you need to light a cigarette and have forgotten to bring another lighter do you?

It's an offense to have an imitation firearm in public, and just happening to have one in the car raises further suspicion. It's against the law, I wouldn't say it's harsh at all. Perhaps they'd seen some of your posts and they did you for crimes against English as well though?

You a cop? Or just old? this thing was a LIGHTER. It only looked like a gun in its shape. It was half the size of a real firearme. but anyway not to fight over it. What you think was fair i think was out of line. Lets leve it at that, yes?
