CJ
You may have seen an earlier thread when I said that my son was looking at Ford Fiesta's as a new car and I was trying to get him to look at Japanese models instead. Well, the long and short of it is, he has decided that he wants one of these cars and is going to look at a couple on Thursday. Now, that's a big worry for me as he knows absolutely sod all about cars and negotiating. He could end up shelling out £5k and buying an absolute crock. So, the long shot question is - if anyone is close to Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales on Thursday, is a bit switched on looking at cars and can negotiate, do you fancy going to see 2 cars with my 20 year old son? ozz
No-one is going to admit to being near Merthyr... There are loads of car check lists on the net - if you are struggling why not get him to print one off and take it with him. I tend to buy most my cars off ebay, much easier. This won't reveal a multitude of other possible faults though, you need to physically check the car out.
cheekymonkey
If it's a choice between a new car and a japanese model I know what I'd want
SteveR
I'm not the most switched on when it comes to the finer mechanics of cars but know how to check the basics, I'm probably a 5 out of 10 in negotiating stakes too. I work Mon-Fri but I could possibly get down there Saturday PM - any use Colin? I guess he's 90 mins from me.

A jap badge with the look of the Ford fiesta!! he can fit recaro's and sideskirts from the RS Fiesta (im sure the MK3 fiesta parts fit!) etc etc. worth a shot as a comprimise? of am I taking badge engineered nonsense as usual? I have asked another friend of mine if he is available too. If not, I will put your offer to Dan and come back to you.
