hadyn
My first mod on my supe will probably be the sensible option of a boost gauge to check whats going on. I quite fancy a pillar pod but can only find pillar pods with dual gauge holders. One gauge holder will obviously be for the boost gauge, but can anyone suggest another guage that is easy to install as the boost gauge for the second guage holder?? AFR gauges are pretty much useless arent they??
CJ
EGT, Oil Temp? Oil Pressure?
hadyn
are EGT gauges easy to install on a supe?? I know on s14s you had to drill a hole into the dump pipe to fit a probe - not exactly what i call easy fit... and oil temp and pressure are a no no for me at the moment as i dont want to go the sandwhich plate route or tapping into the block - i just want something that i can easily do on a saturday afternoon
supradibbs
Oil temp is fairly easy mod as it plum direct into the sump, the hard part is getting through the bulkhead!!! Oil pressure can be made easier by replace the stock union bolt on the block with a 98>supra/2000 lexus one as this allows for a extra pressure feed i.e gauge wilst still retaining the low oil pressure warning
hadyn
AFR gauges are a waste of time though??? Failing that i might just throw in a voltmeter to fill in the hole i think
SilverMachine
Failing that i might just throw in a voltmeter to fill in the hole i think Hadyn, pop one of these in your dash instead of your clock; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36681&item=7946795226&rd=1 Failing that, put all three into the top glove box (who needs two glove boxes anyway. You can fit all the cr@p you hoard into the larger bottom one!). Happy bidding! Gaz
hadyn
i want a gauge that reads in bar rather than psi as most people on this board use bar as a guide Those gauges look a bit dodgy too, i'd rather buy a trusted brand such as autometer for 50 quid than gamble 30 on those slightly dodgy F&F looking gauges Im considering binning the clock - what gauge size fits in there??52mm? Can you live without the clock?
SimonB
EGT is very hard to install as you really want the sensor before the turbos, so that means drilling and tapping the exhaust manifold without getting and swarf in it. AFR is useless unless you get a wideband sensor and gauge, something like the AEM one. That's easy to install if you have decatted and have a pipe with a bung like the Chris Wilson one. SilverMachine
Can you live without the clock? The only clock you really need to look at is the one at the end of the Pod! Gaz
JustGav
Out of interest has anybody actually tried those 30 quid ones, for a voltmeter and stuff...how bad can they be?

I have 3 in mine fitted on top of the CD unit - no problems at all
Ian C
EGT gauge every time. It can be the difference between seeing something is up and getting it sorted and not seeing something is up and getting a new engine. -Ian
