Homer
Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to block off the hole for the rear wiper arm? I don't want to involve filler or paint, so am just looking for some sort of bung... It doesn't need to be pretty, just some basic black rubber bung to fill the hole it creates would do the job

Homer
Watertight one's? I've tried Maplins before and nothing they had fitted (not even close) same with halfords.
Jazzy
What about a blanking grommet from somewhere like B&Q or equivalent?
Homer
What about a blanking grommet from somewhere like B&Q or equivalent? Already tried them, there's nothing they supply that fits. Guys, I'm looking for something that is a water tight fit, not a bodge
GoliathJay
Only my Preude I got a blanking grommit from Halfords, 25mm, and just put some epoxy resin round it, made a nice tight fit. I have painted the blanks before, and it take uite well. If you prime it it will help.

Homer
Any idea what size diameter the hole is Homer? At a rough guess, 24-28mm, but can measure tomorrow
Kev.O
At a rough guess, 24-28mm, but can measure tomorrow I haven't got anything waterproof in mind (my 25mm blind grommet idea isn't waterproof) but thought it might help you
colsoop
As said earlier a grommet from Halfords. Then just run a bead of silicone (underneath) around the grommet edges. I have had one on like that for over 6 months.
Guest CoolsBlue
local auto shop have these kinds, all different sizes, should have a wall with packs of bits n bobs, switches, numberplate sticky pads, screws etc and these kind of flexible rubber grommets for 85p around that mark

Pabs
bump on this thread - Homer you sorted this now? From reading SF - it appears the hole is 34mm - there are lots of "blanking grommits" on ebay which are either 32mm or 37.3mm, wondered if these may do the job? Also - if you've removed the rear wiper - did you remove motor/pipes etc as well? Any info is great - thanks!
Homer
All sorted now mate, I picked up a blanking plug while at Jezz's place. Fitted it a few weeks ago and it's been perfectly water tight after all this rain! The wiper and motor was already gone, so only filled the hole. If you don't get an answer by tomorrow I can take a measurement of the hole for you. Let me know.
Pabs
did you use some sealant etc as well?
Homer
did you use some sealant etc as well? No, just fitted the plug. It was pretty snug so didn't see the need for any sealant

Homer
Cool - thanks What did you do with motor/hoses etc? The hose for the washer jet is still there but I'll just leave that in place. The wiper arm and motor were missing from the boot lid when I got it.

merckx
Has anyone got a rough "how to" on removing the rear wiper arm, motor etc? ta Wiper arms are normally fitted onto a splined shaft, so pull loose the cover where the wiper pivots, remove the nut then lever off the wiper arm. There's normally a larger nut you then have to remove. The rest is common sense, obviously the motor assembly has to be removed from the other side. Pabs
thanks mate - I was hoping for a guide on how to get to the wiper motor itself - I assume it means removing the trim from under the hatch, but I'm not 100% sure how the trim is held onto the car.
