Darren-K
With respect Darren, how can it be the same job if they have less duties and less stress? p.s. If the other manager was a female then you could do something about it (and I don't mean sleep with her). Hi, at the other branch they have more managers and more staff, now recently they have introduced a new till system - i have been running the new till system at my branch for 2 years and have trained all my staff to use it, they have now taken my best staff to operate the till system at the other branch, leaving me now with untrained staff. The other manager who is on almost double what im on,. over the years has threatened to leave etc unless his pay is increased,. (ie) at times of stress he has spat the dummy out and the employer has agreed to his terms for a pay rise. i was told yesterday that they want me to manage the store at the busiest times of the week(weekends) on my own - whilst i have been reprimanded previously for not having enough staff rota`d in for the weekends. i now have to do more than just manage the store,i have to enter stock via an epos system that i have had trained staff to do. entering new stock unto the epos system during a normal working day takes 2 staff - all day, doing nothing else., i have to do this as well as manage the store. State above to manager and request pay rise. Any reasonable bloke would see your point. Also read your contract and employment handbook. What do they say in relation to hours worked, locations etc? The more you know about that you can and cannot do empowers you. For example have you opted out of the working time regulations and if you haven't are you working over the legal amount of time? Also you have to have been working for certain time periods to be able to claim unfair dismissal so 'spitting your dummy out' might not work in your favour. ozz
Unless I'm missing something, are you saying the other branch has more managers and more staff? If so then why shouldn't the guy running that get more pay as he has more responsibility? Money does help make a difficult job more bearable, but if you are really that happy sounds like you should look for a new job - that could increase your confidence in asking them for more money, or they may offer you more to stay - give yourself options. Good luck! I was in a similar position to you years ago and I quit. Now I have a great job where I am really valued - the positions are out there you just need drive and luck. Maybe so but I am with Darren on this seems highly unfair and I wouldn't just sit back and take that either. Speak to your Boss mate

keancy
You can't hold an employer to ransom because you found out something you shouldn't have done. No but he could have a chat and ask for a pay rise himself given he is taken on more jobs and thinks he deserves one.
marbleapple
You can't hold an employer to ransom because you found out something you shouldn't have done. Why not? (no really I would love to know) Its supply and demand. If the employee can as you say 'ransom' an employer he is more than entitled to do so (so long as it remains legal).
