Darren-K
Yes it is. are there any exceptions to the rule James ?
jamesmark
None, as long as the company can justify the pay. Even then it is not illegal so pay can go unexplained and never needs to be justified, apart from the Directors.

Havard
even if my workload becomes unworkable ? and unethical ? If your workload is that bad then surely getting paid more isn't going to solve anything!! I would have a word with your boss and ask them what they plan to do about it? Don't give ultimatums, just ask them for their justification!! H.
CJ
even if my workload becomes unworkable ? and unethical ? can i pm you james,i realy need advice mate. Unethical as in illegal? If so, then you could argue the case for constructive dismissal but even then the difference in pay structure would not be covered.

For a while anyway..... Is it the work that is getting to you OR the fact that someone else is getting paid more. Either way, double the salary is a real p!ss take! I'd be having a word or looking for another job! H.

Darren-K
Well my stance tomorow is going to be, either pay me more,.fire me or demote me. The regular staff earn only £15 a week less than me.,and to be quite frank i know as a fact they need me where i am. If they fire me im going to plead constructive dismissal as the increase in work load isnt workable on my own. thanks everyone for your help. Darren. Darren. Make sure you can back it up, it is not easy suing a company for constructive dismissal. You are best building a case and then giving the ultimatum, however I would plead that cae to your boss rather than giving them an ultimatum, 2 things will come out of that 1) you may get more respect from your employer. 2) you have some ammo for your case. Remember you have to everything corrrectly and above board, and be as nice as pie. A "I said, he said" sript of the meeting will help too. Jake
You found out another guy is getting more money and that is making you ill? How strange. How do you know what this other person is being paid? And why does it make a big difference to you? right Jake, imagine,if you work your ass off doing a certain job, later you find out someone else, with less duties and less stress but in the same job is on double your wage. then,.. all of a sudden... your employer says,.. im now increasing your work load..for the same pay. first, would you not be angry on finding this out,. i know what this other person is paid because he has told me. then would you not feel demoralised,. would it depress you ? its certainly depressing me. Jake,. please try and see things from my side,. i dont want to get into a discussion about this, especialy not a 76 paged one. i asked for advice via pm and and ive had that help now,.i dont want to go explaining this ,thats, and why`s. With respect Darren, how can it be the same job if they have less duties and less stress? p.s. If the other manager was a female then you could do something about it (and I don't mean sleep with her).
