mathew
ive got a philips freeline pc and its really playing up. hardly anything loads on it and it freezes constantly. with our old packard bell we used to just bung in the recovery disk, wipe it all clean and start afresh. however, with this pc it hasnt got a recovery disk. my laptop has one built in so was wondering if my pc has aswell. or does anyone know how i can carry out this operation as my bro wants to pay a specialist to do but maybe we can do it ourselves. any help will be appreciated
Scott
Its possible there is a hidden partition on the HDD that would allow you to reformat your system. If your using XP go into the control panel, administrative tools, computer management then disk management. This will show the partitions on your HDD. If your main HDD has a hidden partition then you most likely have a recovery partition. If its over 1gb in size its highly likely. Once you have figured that out you just need to figure out what keypress you need to enter the recovery menu. Scott =op
mathew
could it be a case of bashing an 'F' button (my laptop i think uses F5) on start up to access recovery mode?
Scott
Could be yes. The F-Keys are usually laptop buttons though. Probably best to do a google search for your computer model and type "recovery menu". Scott =op
Sparky
Do Philips Pc's even have a backup partition? Not all do. Its just become the norm but there are some companies that just expect you to format and reinstall windows! What disks did you get with the pc that could be relevent to windows or recovery?
