SilverMachine
Do any of you guys know how to alter the units used to create a custom page size (from cm to inches) in Photoshop CS in OS X? Doug, Not quite sure if you're talking about "creating a new document" or changing the ruler units for an existing document that has already been created. so... for a new document, all you need to do is "click" on the drop down menus on the right hand side, opposite the 'width' and 'height' windows in the "New Document" dialog box. alternatively, with your existing document open, choose "Photoshop" from the top menu bar (to the right of the apple) then "Preferences" and onto "Units & Rulers". Change the units to suit. Hope that helps you in your dilema. Should you need some visual aid, I can screengrab the various items. Cheers, Gaz

Doug
Aha, found some, it's not the creation of the new job units I'm having the problem with. It's after and you are ready to print and you go to setup the page size. In Page setup the first option is settingsand it is set to "Page Attributes" if you change that option to "custom paper size" the window changest and you have Paper Size and Printer Margins at the bottom. The usits for these dimensions are in cm even though in "units and rulers" units is set to inches. This isn't printer dependent as it doesn't change no matter which printer you have selected. Any ideas?
SilverMachine
This isn't printer dependent as it doesn't change no matter which printer you have selected. Any ideas? Why are you printing straight out of Photoshop? Just create your artwork in Photoshop and import it into a Quark doc (set up in inches) and you'll find that the attributes in the page set up will give you the option of customising the output dimensions because it's being ripped from Quark. Failing that, you could always save the file out as a pdf in the middle of a page and crop it down afterwards. Know what I mean? What is the work you're producing? Doug
Cheers for the info Gaz, unfortunately it's not me doing the work, I'm just trying to hep someone out. Really I should have just stopped when I confirmed it's not down to the printer driver, but once you start being helpful people just want more and more. I hate Macs, they truly are the spawn of satan, I feel so dirty having to have so much contact with them over the last two weeks. Fortunately it's all academic now, I told her she best go speak to Adobe, for some reason she thinks reinstallin OS X and photoshop is going to solve her problems. Castle
Dude there's no way she should ever print straight out of Photoshop, import it into Quark, Freehand, Indesign...etc
SilverMachine
... I told her she best go speak to Adobe, for some reason she thinks reinstallin OS X and photoshop is going to solve her problems. Doug, tell her to give me a call. It's easier to discuss it over the phone. Because OSX is UNIX based, it's a whole different 'kettle of fish'. Let me take you burden of your shoulders while you wash your hands! :flame Dev There has always been this feeling regarding Macs and PCs. Neither one is worse than the other, they're just different machines for different jobs. It depends what you have been introduced to first. I use a Mac for all general artwork and a PC for 3D rendering! P.S. Castle - my point exactly! Gaz (aka Mr.Satan :flame Dev )
Doug
Hi Gaz, Thanks for the offer mate but that's way beyond what is required here. Also it might set a dangerous precedent.
SilverMachine
Thanks for the offer mate but that's way beyond what is required here. Also it might set a dangerous precedent. I'll happily sign a confidentiality agreement! Just trying to help! I know 15 different application programs inside out so I would have welcomed the challenge. If she changes her mind, PM me and I'll help her or anyone else out. :upside:
