as far as I can tell :

In England, Wales and Northern Ireland it's an offence to leave a vehicle unattended on the public highway with the engine running.

In Scotland there's an additional offence covering all property brought in by the Scottish Executive.

True but technology such as remote start as counteracted the potentially easy grand auto theft and this wpc probably doesn't have a clue about it

The offence has nthing to do with *cough* "GTA" *cough* it's more to do with the potential dangers of an unattended running vehicle.

although unlikely, the car could drop into gear and hurtle off down the street. a child could get in and put it in gear. etc. etc.

I'm sure one of our resident friends in blue can add a few more details.

How can a car drop into gear? On an auto?

Regarding child getting into car then engine would cut out when alarm is breached (Clifford remote start).

A year-long review by the Chief Inspector of Constabulary, Sir Ronnie Flanagan, also accuses police forces of targeting less serious crimes to boost their performance figures instead of going after serious criminals.

Perhaps you're lucky it's not the end of the "performance period" :)

I know whay u mean mate.

The polic3 round birmingham are right tossers at times. I was given a ticket for my number plate by a women officer who said my plate wa too small. I explained the fact that it was an import car and DVLA states that it should be so and so inches and that mine was but the sad cow gave me a ticket anyway stating that i was trying to be cheeky.

Also i was given a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt when i WAS by another sad moose when i was driving behind him. He said he was watching me for 1 mile from his rear view mirror and so i said, surely that is dangerous as u were not concentrating on the road ahead and that someone should do u for driving without due care and attention and the twat flipped. I can go on forever but it is one rule for them and another for us.

Half of the tossers need to read the law book properly and actually catch proper criminals.
