Coils gone Bad

Hi guys, well the car went on the dyno, but struggled due to an ignition problem. It is fine up to 21 psi then get's a miss. It's not the amplifier as I have a new CDi ignition system so it all points to the coils. The plugs are BKR7's and where gapped as low as 20 thou to try & rectify this. I have ordered new coils from Jay Marks in the US for HALF the cost that Jemca wanted!

I'll let you know if this is the cure.

Are you sure it is the coils? If you are running standard ECU and 440cc injectors you may well find the engine is running extremely lean at 21psi. Running on standard 440CC even with my Blitz Race ECU which has a richer map, still showed leaning out at this level of boost

Experiments undertaken by others and myself on this board have confirmed that above 1.2 bar on standard Jap spec, mixture leans out. I had to fit 550Cc injectors to run my Turbo Dynamics hybrids at this pressure safely and without misfire.

I also run an additional injector kit to allow me to take the boost from 23psi to 29 psi.

What mods have you done then?

I've fitted 125bhp nitrous kit. I understand that you are doing this. Whilst it improved spool up, it was not as effective as I had hoped, could be that I went over the top on the spec of the hybrids, cos there is still a fair bit of lag. My mods listed below
