Speed of light

Heres one :D

We all know that its impossible to travel at or above the speed of light. But to get from point A to B faster than the speed of light, in my opinion, i think is very possible (in the future) -- (if we ever get to see that day)

What do you reckon?

If it is possible then doesn't that mean time travel is possible? And if time travel is possible then it would have already happened in the future, hence already happened now. But it's not. So I don't think it's possible to travel faster than the speed of light.

My head hurts!!

We'll use a space folding engine

Indeed there is a theory that faster than light travel is possible, however it doesn't mean that the object travels faster than light, but rather jumps between realavistic universes rather to get to a place instantly, which appear to the observer as being further away...

No because we are not talking about actually moving at the speed of light just getting from point A to B faster ;)

Time travel isnt possible. Only speeding up and slowing down your apparant time. There is nowhere in the universe where all our past events are stored ready to be jumped to. Time is only something we humans have made up to calculate things. Once a second has happened it has happened.

There is a way of witnessing past events though, and that would be to travel far enough away from our planet, arriving at a distance however many light years away at the point before the light that left earth in whatever year, say 1850 reaches the point you are at. As you cant travel faster than the speed on light that would be impossible, unless you dont travel faster than the speed of light, you just get to where you are going faster ;)

Thats the right kind of idea :)

Apparantly, its do-able, but we dont have the power or technology to do it right now. We are no where near the level of being able to harness enough of the energy that it would take to accomplish such as task.

Its the hold paper folding thing, instead of going from one end of the paper to the other, you bend the paper and straight from one end to the over.

Sounds amazing far fetched, but so was walking on the moon, or flying for instance before we realised we could :D

I jus canna find the powrer...captain!

Of course time travel is possible...it takes time to travel anywhere ;)

Someone has watched 'Event Horizon' and so... in what other films do they base this theory! re: folding space and time?

Now that was a rubbish film! cant remember anything about folding space tho , but i'm sure Star Treks Warp drive did just that ;)

Time travel would only be possible to the point that the machine was created.

Are you talking about paradox's and everything blowing up because of them.

Nah, its just not possible full stop, you cant travel to something that has already happened! its gone... kaput, over

Watch again - he created a black hole by folding space and time, in Sam O'neils brief on the rescue vessle and demonstrated it with a pinup girl on a calender by folding it in half and sticking a pen through her xxxx and through to the other side.
