cheekymonkey
I am going from 440's to 650's on my TT with the PowerFC. Once I have put everything back together is it safe to start the car, just to see if it fires up? I know I have to phone Ryan so he can talk me through setting up the fueling so it's safe to drive (off boost) until he can map it. I'd rather be confident that at least the car starts before I call him though.

Yes you can start the car alright, but i would disconnect the coil pack first and just crank it over a few times to make sure the injector seals are not leaking. Wez
Jumping from 440cc to 650cc without adjust the fueling would be very very rich. Bore wash anyone?

As long as he get's a re-map done and don't use it as a DD there will be no problems.
SupraHuman
Just to make sure the car starts it should be OK surely? Yepp go ahead and fire it up bud.You can't get bore wash from 1min. idle running.
Wez
When an engine is cold it uses warmup enrichment so they run richer anyway (modern choke), this plus your upgraded injectors will result in it being crazy rich, possibly too rich to start. Its your car so go for it, I would personally trim the map first.
Sean1933
With the increase in injector size and running it on the stock map i doubt it will even start. You need to remember you will be increasing fuel injection by nearly 50%. plus start up enrichment its going to be VERY rich. Bore wash is still possible, regardless of it only being for "1 min", remember how many cycles an engine goes through over a minute! Basically, you need to trim the fuel map...or temp reduce the fuel pressure...however i wouldn'd do the latter as its a bit of a bodge and if you lower it too much then atomisation will be effected. cheekymonkey
OK, Sean that's seems like a fair comment - I will get Ryan to talk me through trimming the fuel map before I start it for the 1st time to be safe
Ian C
Untrimmed 550cc injectors on a j-spec will start but the cold start is awful and it'll try and stall on a revup and liftoff. I imagine 650cc injectors will be a disaster and probably will just foul the plugs. -Ian
cheekymonkey
Guys, I started the car and it started perfectly first time, sounded sweet for about 5 seconds, then started to run very very rich so I turned her off Just awaiting Ryan now to talk me through the PFC setup but good to know she starts anyway.
