Next Celica to be a Scoobie!

Makes sense. After all, Toyoya do own Subaru. The Celica has a long rally heritage, and the GT4 was always the premium offering - why re-invent the wheel when you can re-badge a car from a brand you own?

not quite

"Fuji Heavy Industries owns Subaru. GM says the partnership did not result in enough collaboration to justify the cost so it’s taking it’s money to invest somewhere else.

Of the 20% stake on the market now, Toyota confirmed it will buy up 8.7% which is 68 million shares. General Motors will sell the remaining 11.3% either back to Fuji Heavy Industries or put it on the open market."

Good, the current Celica is pants IMO, it's got the clunky annoying gearbox and cramped cabin of a sports car but none of the go!!

Hyundai have sorted themselves out and beefed up their 'sportscar' Coupe, now coming in correct-wheel-drive. About time Toyota made their own sporty coupe a bit more sporty!
