Guest Jarl Ayari
Probably loads, I remember when I was at achool in the 80's there was something going around that an engine had been developed for when fossil fuels ran out but the oil companies bought all the patent and rights to it. Back then it wasnt global warming they were worriying about it was the fact oil itself would run out. They said we had about 50 years worth of fossil suels left back in the 80's. tbourner
It's obvious that the oil companies hold all the major patents to electric cars, fuel cells, any other unknown efficient vehicles. When the oil runs out they'll mirraculously come out with loads of new ideas to save the world. They could do it now though, This is probably the future, combined with the Strizki house concept used in every home, energy problems solved! Why don’t the oil companies start a sideline in home hydrogen storage and electrolyzer fitting, in place of a drop in fuel costs for those that take up the offer? Angarak
I was listening to this on Radio 5 Live yesterday, as a former chairman of shell he's probably spent his working life being driven around in a jag or bentley ...thats when he isnt jetting off to places. To increase my rage notch a bit more, they then mentioned some idiot who said that all motor vehicles that can do more than 80mph should be banned ...pretty much every car and bike then! RedM
Just a thought about all these 'mysterious' solutions for when the oil runs out. Isn't there a lot of plastic in cars? Isn't it also derived from oil? Wooden cars anyone?
ManwithSupra
So how many times do you think it's already happened then? There was a guy who inveted a car that ran on sea water, saw it on the news years ago, i also remember that i have never heard of anything since, the guy was obviuosly paid off .... They by product was ... you guessed it water !! The oil companies would never let a free self perpetuating energy idea loose.

Matt H
If we are to meet the strict emissions guidelines set for us then it might be done. I'm not fussed if they introduce these guide lines for new cars, but you cant do it retrospectively
Gazboy
Hmmm, chairman of a mining company who supplies metals for batteries says we should ban sub35's? Funny how whatever alternatives come up for ICE and power generation, someone doesn't like it.
