ajazyasin
Ive removed my aircon pump from the system. When i went to fit the anc belt today i came across a problem. I pushed belt tensioner back and fitted the belt. The belt was a very tight fit so no slack. When a released the tensioner it made its way up and rested against the powersteering pump. When i say resting, it is separated from it by the belt itself. Is this ok? Or should i remove the tensioner altogether and just run it without and tighten from the alternator? thanks in advance. Rob
WHAT??? Should you remove the tensioner??? Step away from the vehicle my friend. Seriously, you may have looped the belt wrong, do a search, theres a diagram of how it should look. When you removed the pump, did you leave the pulley somehow, or are you expecting the tensioner to take up the slack from a missing pulley? You will need a shorter belt, search again for AC pump removal. Some guys have done this with a new belt.
ajazyasin
Relax Rob. Not my first day with a spanner! Im using a much shorter gates belt. The problem is the tensioner doesnt really do anything when the a/c pulley is missing. Ill look into it some. thanks for the concern though.
