suprababy
Dont know if it is related or just more noticeable but since decatting (UK Full Decat) when i put in reverse (auto box) there is a lot of smoke from exhaust and it is a smelly smoke. The change from drive to reverse is also stiffish if it is related. Any ideas is it the gear box fluid or somethhing else?
fisherjohn
I am no engineer or mechanic, however with full decat as i have with my tt auto you will have changed the idle speed as there is no restrictions anymore, so it is probably running richer than normal at idle hence the smoke. Maybe Ian C will answer and pin point the problem, but i would not worry if i was you.
fisherjohn
Good idea to change transmission fluid every 3/4k miles also the diff oil. It is just something that i do as most cars only ever get topped up.

I think youll find that Tranny oil change is every 36000miles not 4000 miles

Stiff autobox changes are usually indicatvie of not enough fluid in them, or it's old fluid and needs changing. A fluid swap wouldn't hurt. -Ian
