Havard
You talk a lot of sense, don't forget the population has increased around 10% too. Graph produced by the Home Office, you'll all now start saying that they've manipulated the figures. I don't think they have manipulated those figures. I just think they are bo*locks to begin with...... Are those figures for crimes committed, reported or both? A lot of crimes go un reported especially in areas where reprisals are expected. Also rape cases are nothing like the actual figure. Also with the early release of so many prisoners it's good to know that almost all of them don't re-offend.... H. Fifty
thats a nice graph -looks like a chimp drew it = oh hang on it did:p probably someone with an nvq obtained under opportunities to get back to work programme. probably the same guy who does the inflation stats 2 percent -yeah right what do they measure that with; the cost of flip flops and tampax? SILKYSMOOTH
Please..please.please Don't believe the crime figures, and don't believe the unemployment figures it's all distorted and corrupt. The problem is not just crime, the major issue is the quality of life. There is a saying in Greek which I use for this country and that is "Vizoni". Which comes from the word "Vishia" which means "Tits". Basically Vizoni" means "sucks the life out of you", and thats what this country does. Traps you here and makes the best of efforts to keep you here to pay taxes. There is no real life here....we are just guinipigs.
SUPRASUZUKI
Bunch of whingers. You don't know when you're well off. You've got more wealth, food and comforts than billions of other people. There are no natural predators here, no natural disasters (just the odd flood) and no obvious threat of armed invasion (unlike the situation our parents / grand parents faced). "To be born English is to have won first prize in the lottery of life". People fought and died to protect this place and you'd leave it without a thought. Grow some balls you cowards (or move to a low crime area).

MARTIN R
After living in Australia for a while, I would agree that it is different elsewhere. What this country is lacking is RESPECT. As a dad now I worry for my Son. ( Looks up address for Australia House:d)

merckx
If you honestly believe that there has been an improvement in crime levels in this country since 1995 then I am sorry but you are living in cloud cuckoo land. Tell me why you think crime levels have gone up and why you don't live in cloud cuckoo land then. Can anyone tell me why they think that crime levels have gone up, it's no good saying "cos they have".
SUPRASUZUKI
are you for real? you missed the point thats what people want protecting and it isnt happening Rich Of course I am. Are you telling me you'd rather have been born with f-all in some god forsaken place, living in a tent and eating rotten goat meat every day? I understand the point perfectly. This place is being mis-managed in most respects, but running away isn't going to fix it, now is it?
Pete
What narrow minded rubbish. You can't sue unless the law of the land allows you to. It's the lawyers with the morales of snakes manipulating and interpreting the letter of the law to their own whily ways. The guy with the more expensive snake stands a better chance of winning. The same lawyers waiting to jump at every opportunity with slogans like "Have you had an accident that wasn't your fault?" and "Are you a thieving b@stard who tripped over something during your last heist and hurt your leggie weggy?" Scary stuff that Pete. Did it happen at night or the middle of the day? Night. Graph produced by the Home Office, you'll all now start saying that they've manipulated the figures. I'd love to know what types of crimes have changed. I would expect that fewer people bother to report crimes and that serious crimes are on the increase. Does that graph take into account the amount of SOLVED crimes?
R Black
Certain types of crimes may well have dropped, but violence against the person seemingly has increased, antisocial behaviour has definately gone through the roof, most people i talk with felt safer 10/20 years ago than they do now, seeing as this impacts on so many peoples daily lives (as opposed to say a bank robbery, shoplifting) it is viewed as crime is up, which in essence it has towards the average jo on the street, as Martin R said respect is nigh on DEAD. Can anyone tell me why they think that crime levels have gone up, it's no good saying "cos they have". when i went to school years ago, my mother would be out when i got back and i never had a key, would you leave your door unlocked in this era not a chance, i went to school and yes i was not an angel, i feared the cane and the slipper i did have my share of them though, did it teach me right from wrong, YES IT DID, did it teach me respect, YES IT DID, taking away the powers from the police, teachers, parents, is why this country is in a dreadful state, and it is, and if you truly believe those statistics then wander around any city centre at 2.30am:rolleyes: this country stinks and its blinkered people like you that help it remain so
SupraD06
pete, how close was this to stafford??? i live about 15-20 minutes away from stafford town centre and its actualy worrying to think this is happening so close to where i live. I take it the fact that it was them who caught up with these three cars and not the three cars coming up from behind that this wasnt some kind planned attack on these people and that it could have been anyone i.e some helpless old women who would'nt have had a clue what was going on and would have probably stopped when they tried to slow her down and then god knows:( seems crazy to think you cant even drive home anymore without being chased and being told ' im going to kill you ' by a bunch of w@*%ers
Pot
I'm tempted to say 'They (Government) should just have some common sense, but with the lives they've had, I don't see how they could understand the norrmal life of the normal man/woman/family... The same applies to Judges, they're so far away from the reality of day to day life I even wonder if they're on this planet, the same goes for the posts from a couple of members above... Pete
pete, how close was this to stafford???ed and being told ' im going to kill you ' by a bunch of w@*%ers Not sure. They live in Stafford and were on the way back from their parents. Get this though, the police hadn't logged it. She had to ring again today and go through it all to get a crime number. Problem is they were doing speeds up to 100mph apparently and going through red lights, speed cams etc. As you say, it seemed pre-meditated and could've been any poor person. Just wondering which bit of my rhetoric you may have disagreed with? - It wasn't you my car/bike combo fella, I pretty much agree with both of your posts, we are better off that the majority of the world, and should fight against it... (General discussion now) However when you look to the people in power for help, but they're the ones who are putting this shit onto you, what the funk does one do?... SUPRASUZUKI
what the funk does one do?... If only I knew mate:(:( The only option is for some radical party to be in charge. So, in the name of self preservation, legging it to somewhere else to look after ones own may not be a bad idea?... At least we'd spread the Britishness across the world, a bit like the Rage Virus but instead of going mental, it just blows out extreme symptoms of being British, within a few weeks (Less than 28, it's less obvious than eating each other and going AARRGGHHHHH...
