SupraGirlie
Can I please have some recommendations on some scary films!! I am just on Play.com and all I have chosen so far is 'The Grudge'! I want scary ones not just gory like 'Saw' and 'Hostel' etc!
Blackie
The original exorcist scared the s**t out of me. I was but a child though.
jamesmark
Grudge 2. Quite a lot of Japanese horror films freak you out, 10x better than USA variants depends if you can put up with the subtitles? Original Japanese version of The Ring. SupraGirlie
Has anyone seen '1408' is that scary?! Now added 'The Ring' I don't think either are that scary though.

Are you adding the USA version of the Ring? or the original version? The USA one is not scary.
SupraGirlie
Got the U.S version, maybe won't bother with it, as I have seen the jap version before anyway. How about 'Wrong Turn 2' or 'Disturbia'
Ewen
I thought hard about this, I really did. I cant think of a film that has really scared me except 'The Stone Tape' ('70s BBC effort) and 'Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad' by M R James, directed by Jonathan Miller. Theres a few that have made me jump, but these two are very good at getting your imagination running.

SupraGirlie
I don't think I will be buying the Blair Witch becuase I have seen it about 5 times and it does nothing now lol I will look into the films suggested though! Might get 'The Shining' although I think the book is scarier!
RedM
I disagree about 1408. Yes, it did start off scary but then it started getting a bit silly. I find subtle horror to be far more effective than FX-laden 'shockers'.
SupraGirlie
Won't bother with buying 1408 then! Added 'Candyman' now, seem to remember that being scary when I watched it years ago lol
and1c
Hostel 2 is worth watching Hot Fuzz is just excellent
SupraGirlie
I didn't like the first Hostel at all, prefer the 'Saw' movies. Don't really like gory films I end up looking away through most of them!
jamesmark
Won't bother with buying 1408 then! Added 'Candyman' now, seem to remember that being scary when I watched it years ago lol Yes it maybe was, years ago but it ain't now. It is a bit like the Chucky/Elm Street movies, they scared you years ago but now they don't even make you jump.
Ewen
Anything with Ben Stiller in it is pretty horrifying.
SupraGirlie
How about 'The others' Also added 'Sleepy Hollow' I did see it when it came out but I can't remember what it was all about now.

Ewen
The original 'The Haunting' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057129/ Yes, that has its moments. Good film.
Burna
I love the remake so I'll check it out I don't think you'll be disapointed, it has a totally different feel to the remake. Same goes for one of my favourites, the original 'Texas Chain Saw Massacre'. You never really see anything, and that's always been the trick which seems lost on so many film makers these days.
