SILKYSMOOTH
The only real advantage to this is an environmental one and it is a long term process to see results. If prices go up, less people will drive and use less fuel (but not a significant amount to see a drastic change in the short term), thus burning lower carbon emmisions which will help reduce poluting our planet, I'm all up for that but why is it always about money. AndrewOW
You've got to remember that as fuel prices go up, people will have to seek alternative transport, which is good for the environment (allegedly), but petrol prices will have to continue to rise and rise as the government will have to make up the shortfall in revenue from the loss of those cars from the road! Its a bit of a vicious circle isn't it?! I know what I mean anyway
tbourner
We all need to set up a Strizki-esque house, then we could run Hydrogen fuel cells for nowt.

Pete
So, for 50 litres at the pump, we are paying £19.51 for the fuel plus an eye-watering £32.99 in taxation. And now the Chancellor is looking for a further 2p per litre in April. So I've paid about £1500 to the taxman in petrol alone this year. chris2o2
They seem to think if they keep putting the prices up we'll stop using our cars . People will just pay it and the hatred we have towards the Government will just grow and grow .
