SupraJim
i noticed last night that my mat in the passenger footwell was damp! and my water level in the radiator has dropped a bit! before im thinking worst case..... im wondering if it could be a coincidence.... ....there was a half empty bottle of water under my seat from a while back and wondered if it may of leaked over the mat because where it was really wet was right under the passenger seat (the front of the mat) and fairly dry at the top under my glove box! also..... ....the last time i checked my water level was just after christmas eve when i decided to go to manchester for new years. coming from kent that is well over a four hour drive, just to get there, with a lot of driving inbetween and lot of driving since i been back with the heater on a lot! in fact all the time being winter!..... could the long drive with the heater on cause the drop in water? or is it that the heater matrix has gone? if so how involved is the job and does anyone know how much it costs to be replaced??? many thanks, a worried Jim
Havard
Sounds like the heater matrix..... Are your windows steaming up and is the wet footwell smell like damp socks? H.
stevie_b
I suggest drying it out, continue to use the car but keep a very close eye on the water level. It might be a good idea if you had RAC membership too. If you need to replace the heater matrix, I suggest you contact Whitesupraboy2: he's done it (as have a few others). Wez
Dont forget there are alot of electrics including the ECU in that area. When my matrix went it took an alarm unit with it which resulted in my starter motor engaging on the motorway, not good
SupraJim
ummm! what do i do? how would i know if it is coming from the heater matrix? will it leak constantly or only when hot? my windows mist up but dont think any more than usual! should i even drive the car??? Nic
Aerotop? Other possibility is leaking roof or window/door seal. Normally when the heater matrix starts to leak you'll be able to smell it.

Havard
bump You bumped a thread after 15 mins...... The length of your recent journey should npt affect the water level. If you have a good system with no leaks then why would you lose coolant. If there is no smell then the water may have come from something else. Are your heaters warm/hot? Oh and you may need to pay your membership now..... Don't worry though, another tenner is nothing compared to paying for a new matrix....... H. SupraJim
my heaters seem to work properly yeah which is puzzling me cos i would assume i would just begetting cold air through!? as i said before the part of the mat that was really wet was the part under the passenger seat! but its the drop in water thats worrying me! just seems to much of a coincidence?? is there ant way i could test it? cheers for the heads up on the pay mate! i dont have paypal though so what other methods can i pay? sorry about the bump just bit worried! need as much help as i can to stop me worring lol
Nic
Is the bottom of the door card wet also? When old, the window seal that runs across the top of the door on the outside (between door and glass) can leak and you'll get water inside the door, which will make the door card wet and leak onto the mat. When my heater matrix burst it was very obvious, there was steam coming out and of the heater vents and you could smell the radiator fluid. Havard
Just go through the instructions of the membership page and use a debit card. No need to have a paypal account. I don't have one and I've registered twice.... H.
