Wrong Blackie. It was originally planned to be a 10 year series.

If anything, they're having to cut stuff out.

Where did you get that info from? I've never heard of that before. No show is planned out so far ahead, as it may not get the audience or ratings it needs, let alone get past the pilot. Every other show i've gotten into is taken season by season towards the latter ones, as ratings always fall and no one know how long a series can go on for until it starts to dwindle in the war that is the ratings chart.

I expect they KNEW they would get a few seasons out of lost, but to predict it being one of the most popular shows ever?

I think the most critical factor in how long a show runs for, whether it be 3 years or 10 years, is pressure and financial backing from the network, they hold ultimately hold the strings and can cut them any time, or offer enough to the writers to milk more seasons from them. At the end of the day, money talks, what do the network care if LOST starts getting sour, as long as people are still watching it, hoping for that magical conclusion, its all money to everyone involved with the production of the show. If HBO (i think thats the correct american network for this show), wants another 6 season, the writers will unfortunetly give it them :( even at the expense of making it drag out and get sh*t, its a career for them. 10 years of work and make the show loose itself or make something good, which doesnt dry out because the story is fresh but get only 3 - 4 or whatever years work. The writers dont know where there next job is going to come from, so you got to think, is it worth it to them to just keep it going for only a short period of time in comparrision to what they could milk it for?

It was one of the things touted when the first series finished.

Everyone was asking how long it would last and someone on the production team said it was destined for 10 seasons.

I'm pretty sure it was on the series 1 roundup they did before series 2 came out.

In retrospect, 10 years isn't so long - look at the stink the fans kicked up when Stargate was axed...

Only six make it off the island.....?

1 - Jack

2 - Kate

3 - Hurley

4 - ???

5 - ???

6 - ???

Interesting, especially when Jack and Hurley were split into different groups, how did they manage to be one of the six? Just have to guess the other 3...

By the way have you "RiceRocket" any association with RiceRocket UK the 'business'?

At the end of Season 3, when Kate met Jack in a "flash-forward" she said "he will be wondering where I am" (or something similar) who could be Sawyer.

Thats right ...yeah maybe it's Sawyer thats waiting, (as a survivor he may be one of the six). so you think maybe Ben and lock were the other two?

I don't think Ben would have left unless he was dragged kicking and screaming!! Plus Locke would be the same, as if he left the island, he might be back in a wheelchair.

Sayid is a possibility, as he wanted to find his girlfriend. In Desmond's "vision" he said he saw Claire and Aaron get on a helicopter (they may not count the baby as one of the "Oceanic Six")

Plus Desmond would want to get back for Penny. So my thinking at present would have to be:

1. Jack

2. Kate

3. Hurley

4. Sawyer

5. Claire

6. Desmond / Sayid (leaning towards Desmond)

Did you hear they only just anounced that they now know where the plot is going? They didn't have a clue how to answer everything when they started off apparently! You would have to be a bit weird to come up with this story though

Something is really bugging me though and that is the woman that used to be with the 'Udders', and now has turned sides (can't remeber her name), she found a way of inseminating embreos or something and successfully created life with the help of pregnating her sister. Then she was headhunted, so to speak, to go the island. I think that, Penelope's (desmond's woman) father owns or is part of this big secret island and has become invloved in this experiment to create a community on the island or something...maybe they are cloning them or something.

Penelope obviously knows the transmission but has not been able to get through due to the islands defence that was in place, so I think her father has something to do with it all.

She was there to find out why the pregnant women were dying not cloning them lol.

she is a fertility expert not a scientific cloner

True, I think he definitely has something to do with it. But there are other really bugging things, like why did the sharks have Dharma symbols on their tailfins?

The "others" obviously aren't terrible people, as some of the survivors from the tail section of the plane are now with the others and look happy as larry. Plus they managed to cure Juliet's (that is who you were thinking of) sister's cancer. Plus Locke was shot in the gut by Ben, but is now fine.

Naomi (the parachute woman) is from the new people, who are the baddies, and they want to find the Island (I think the black guy in the mental hospital is one of them, who said "are they still alive", so some were left behind, that is why Jack and Hurley said "we need to go back")

There are going to be sooooo many theories about this, but no one is going to know until the end. I think they said there is going to be 7 series, possibly ending with a feature length film!!

So some time to go until we find out what happens, which leaves people thinking "what am I going to do when Lost finishes for good?"!!!!

nobody would goto the funeral, nobody cared, locke and ben so far are the most hated of the group

True, but Locke did have a girlfriend (or wife?) and other people he knew before stuff happened on the Island, so you would expect SOMEONE to turn up.

Ben therefore could be a strong contender. But, it could be someone who they hate later on than we see.

A quick question. When Hurley was sitting outside in the mental hospital, another patient comes up to him and says "there is a man staring at you".

The man turns out to be Charlie. So, how come the other patient could see him?
