The law on Deer and pheasant roadkill is weird. If you hit a deer and kill it then it a illegal for you to pick it up. However it is not illegal for the next person who stumbles upon it to. Suppose the law is in place to stop people deliberately driving into them.

I seem to remember something about the law on this stating that essentially if you kill a pheasant (or partridge etc.) with your vehicle then stop to collect it, it is classified as 'poaching' as it is unlawful killing of game. However, the bloke in the car behind is quite able to stop and collect the quarry - not having killed it himself.

The Game Act outlines this as "The use of any mechanically propelled vehicle in immediate pursuit of wildlife for the purpose of killing or taking"

Must be true Ian, steveo said it too ;)

If someone was to say they go out of there way to hit pheasant's with there car, then goes back to pick them up, Would they be a bad person?

So are you that particular person, I presume you are because of the way you reacted to my post?

It's a slight "nudge" to the left if you want to clip them, There is a knack, Its quite a skilled thing.

A slight clip obviously involves taking your eyes off the road and in my opinion that isn't a wise thing to do.It doesn't matter how long your attention is taken away from looking at where you're going, a split second is all it takes as you never know what hazard may lay ahead

I prefer to concentrate 100% regardless of what road I'm driving on. This only comes with maturity which your friend or yourself whichever the case maybe is obviously lacking.

Those who provoke a massive reaction almost always deserve it!!!
