supra steveo
the doc gave me some anti-depressant tablets on friday for my neck and i tell you what they are beating all the pain killers hands down, i told the doc i am not depressed and he told me they are for nerve damage, thats why i have been in clip state after the little RTA in november. been told to be careful with them because they are highly addictive, i think that the little RTA in november has flared up old injeries big time, probibly the worst they have ever been but i am getting there, anyone else had bad whiplash ? AndyT
Nope. But glad you're on the mend bud. Yes be careful with the ulta addictives, they'll mess your life up more than the RTA. What did you get prescribed ?

Pixelfill
was it diazepam Steve? I was prescribed some for a locked neck (same symptoms as whiplash). As well as being an antidepressant it's also a sedative and muscle relaxant (amongst others) Like you said it was very helpful. especially as I was also on Ibuprofen as well. Guest gzaerojon
I had a whiplash injury back in july, was off work for a couple of weeks but the time literally floated by with the help of Diazepam. i recently had some neck pains on new years eve/new years day, not sure if it was just the way i slept of if it was the whiplash coming back. I hope not

Charlotte
It is a bit scary how quickly doctors give people things like that.
colsoop
It is a bit scary how quickly doctors give people things like that. I didn't get pills like that when i left hospital after breaking my back ! those drugs are strong stuff ! Indeed, but it keeps the patient quiet and is nice and cheap
_Lynz_
they are amitriptyline 25mg i am also taking diclofenac I wouldn't worry too much about the amitriptyline Steve, I've been taking the 10mg ones for about 2 years now, daily for migranes. Apparantly they are good for all sorts of illnesses I thing you need to take double your dose to treat depression. If I have a bad migrane I can take 2 every night (I don't), but I'm not addicted to them. One thing I would say is they can make you VERY drowsy, I take 1 at 8pm and by 10.30 it's lights out. Hope they help with your pain.

Gaz6002
I fractured 2 bones in my neck (C4 and C5) a few years back in a bad skiing accident whilst I was working as a freestyle skiing instructor. I wasn't prescribed any of that. I had morphine once feeling came back after 3 days and then just run of the mill painkillers. I still get problems now TBH and it kind of makes me think whether this route would have been better for me. I went through a lot of pain. Hope you get it sorted ASAP Steve, I feel your pain mate. supra steveo
everything the docs are telling me is contradicting "if you get a headache stay away from co-dine" i was in the med center yesterday with a real bad head ache and the doc said take some co-dine ? i really don't know what to do now a lot of sleep seemed to help but i am still in abit of pain Christ i am rattling like a pharmacy
cheekymonkey
Amitriptyline is great, and at such a low dose you'll be fine! I was on it some years ago when I had trouble sleeping. They also give it to kids who wet the bed!
