What do you all think about the Silvia, I'm in 2 minds whether to go for a Supra or a Silvia

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks

I love the look of the Supra, it really does hit me and what you can get it to look like, SO much potential.......I love the potential power too, I just dont want a major guzzler, I guess I'd be looking at a NON-turbo, or at most a single turbo.

In saying that, I wouldnt 'horse it' anyway! I mean I'm thinking the turbo would kick in about 3 thousand revs mark, guess its how u drive too right?

They come standard as a non turbo or a twin turbo. The single turbo cars are modified to that later.

I still say that if you are worried about petrol the car is not for you.

Is that still true if you poodle around? as the tubs cut in later? obviously they will drink more than standard with a heavier foot.

Yeah, to be fair i replied without explaining what i meant

A single turbo is a modified car as CJ said, and in general the fuel system has been modified too. when used 'in anger' they use more fuel, but if pootling about apparently they use less than a TT :)

Just cost more to buy and insure :p

A 3 ltr performance car WILL always be a 'gas-guzzler' compared to smaller engined cars.

I think the ecomomy for a N/A Supra (non-turbo) is very much the same as TT (20-22 mpg)

The turbo's come on line from 1800 rpm, so you often find you're using them with very little throttle

Ive had two S14's, which are silvias in japan, depends what you mean by silvia, it covers 200's for the last 20 years :D

Fuel consumption, theres not a lot in it, but the supras marginally worse. The TT supra and NA are pretty much the same consuption wise i believe.

TT supra has tonnes more power than the sx. NA supras probably a little slower due to its weight (S14's weigh in roughly the same as a turbo MR2)

SX slightly cheaper to insure (especially if its a UK one, which most are) and far far faaaaaar cheaper to buy. Friend of mine picked up a quite tidy one for £2.8K the other day

SX cheaper to mod, you can get a front mount for about 200 notes, and its a good one.

Dont bother importing one, unless its an S15, there are thousands of UK ones for far less money than imported ones. IMHO.
