That was just one of the course bits then

Yeh there is 22 obstacles like that spread over a distance of 8 miles!!

Just got back and all i can say is BRILLIANT!! what a day, the weather was kind to us, only 6 degrees but the sun was out and not a lot of wind, however the water only seemed to be about -5!! first time in and certain body parts vanish!

the obstacles varied from walls to tunnells to scramble nets to high boards into the lake.

If any of you are thinking about doing this in july its well worth it if you have a few phobias and want to prove or test yourself.

Only picked up a few injuries, scrapes on knees and hands, very sore legs and time for a shower to remove mud from places i never knew was there!!

then a long hot soak in a bath with a guinness!!

Well done fella, that must take some doing.

Im well up for this for next year, its something to really get working hard for. Ive just got back into the gym after a few years off (3 kids).

Having said that, its only when you said it was 8 miles that i thought i may be up for it. In the training section of the website it recommends running 25miles with 14Kg on your back. At that stage i thought no way, not enough time or motivation, but 8 miles is more like it (i apprechiate those obsticles will make it more like 16miles though)

thankyou

Its great fun, we did it in 2 hours 42 mins but at the start we were posistions 3607-3610 so with that many people in front of you there is no way times are going to be competitive, today was really more of a challange to the team that had never done anything like this before.

the 8 miles goes really quickly and to be honest you dont really realize the distance. as for the training to do for this, the best thing i can advise would be to go running in the woods, jump in every river you come across, put a log in the middle, swim out to it and duck dive it 4 times!! then go and touch your nearest electric cattle fence!!

crawl through some sewer pipes half full of mud, jump over some silage bales 15 times, and crawl under some barbed wire!

oh and if you can get your local fire brigade to hose you down whilst doing some of those things that would help aswell!! prefrably just before you swim through the lake!

Sounds mad stuff to do in advance, but i suppose thats what you need to do on they day to get through.

It would be by far the hardest thing ive ever done. Many years ago i "almost" got onto Gladiators (last 100 men out of 15,000 entrants and they needed 50 so i was somewhere between 50 and 1 off). A few years back i did the Reading Half Marathon as well, but ive not done anything that hard for a while now. I better get training.
