keancy
We started getting some hairline cracks along our rear Spoiler any ideas why and is there a way of stopping them getting worse??
merckx
Need some pics as you haven't got the stock spoiler. The drag on it must be immense.
gaz1
i think all the veilside ones i have seen have stress cracks, mine did and used to make an awful creaking noise, they should be bolted into the tailgate but with a rubber type gasket, mine didn,t hence noise and stress cracks:rolleyes:
foodfreak
usually caused by people slamming the boot shut & letting the spoiler vibrate.
keancy
Will try to get pictures for you but my phone isn't the greatest quality and said cracks are small(ish). We don't let the boot slam at all, infact I avoid opening it full stop because it's terribly heavy. As for the noise and creaking yes your right it makes hell of a racket as you drive along. RobSheffield
Take it off after all, it is a veilside Makes me chuckle when folks have things on the car that stop you using it normally like that! x
Carl_S
Mine has a crack, on, looks like its been repaired. Doesnt creak when driving, not that I notice anyway above the exhause roar. Don't take it off Anja. It's
Kranz
The only way to stop cracks is to drill a hole where the crack ends to stop it spreading further, then grind out the crack & fill then paint. Or just ignore it
keancy
Take it off after all, it is a veilside Makes me chuckle when folks have things on the car that stop you using it normally like that! x Thanks guys. I know your Oppinion on Veilside but am I bothered??? And Rob the boot is a laugh anyways you can fit like 3 bags of Sugar in and it's full. Ok some pictures. First is where the aerial fits through (all tho it doesn't work anyway) Paint Chips Second one is the left side of Spoiler which isn't very noticable. Then the other two are the right side which is fairly bad.
Guest .VorteX.
Have them repainted and check the seal or gasket.
SupraGirlie
usually caused by people slamming the boot shut & letting the spoiler vibrate. I used to have a veilside spoiler and I was so so careful when shutting the boot then someone who didn't know would come along and slam it and it would vibrate like mad and I would end up screaming at them lol
Carl_S
Hardly every open the boot anyway. But thats mainly becuase of the struts not being able to take the weight. But also, If I *do* go shopping in it then the shopping just goes in the front or back seat. But, the veil spoiler is a beatiful thing, not on it own as such, but as a part of the whole package.
