Digsy
Teabreak quickie: Is there any way to plug something into the diagnostic port that will tell me what gear my all-knowing autobox ECU has selected, in real-time while I am driving? Ian C
There are gearlevel position pins on the ECU. These are probably set by the lever position, as it covers park, neutral, etc. as well as L, 2, and Drive. Still worth seeing if they are set by the autobox as it changes gear as well, though. -Ian

Thats what I'm looking for. Do you know the pins, or should I dig through MKIV.com?
Ian C
Here are the relevant ones: Terminal E10 3 - Kickdown 7 - Reverse 9 - 2nd 10 - Low 18 - Manu mode 28 - Overdrive main switch Terminal E9 9 - A/T no2 solenoid 10 - A/T no1 solenoid 12 - A/T solenoid SLT (no idea what SLT is) 13 - A/T no4 solenoid 14 - A/T no3 solenoid 31 - A/T solenoid SLT 76 - Park/neutral position sensor Strangely, there doesn't appear to be a line for Drive! That's probably the default state of the system, i.e. if no other lines are active. -Ian
