Pig
Great vid, amazing to watch a car being crushed.
tomgeer
surely that could have been broke? You would think so, the brakes and wheels alone would be worth a fortune

Matt H
Ace vid, Suprised how well that windscreen held. Wheels seemed pretty intact to. What was the significance of that glass of black liquid at the end?
Matt H
From Pistonheads: About the Porsche video : it was a pre-series prototype, so it was un-sellable, they usually get crushed. This one ended up being a sculpture called "compression" , to show that all products -and even beings- have a limited time span on earth, but will continue their existence in another form. HTH, Benni Expensive point to make? Why crush the prototypes tho? would they not at least take the wheels off them first before doing so in reality when they are done with prototypes. seems such a waste, and in the climate we live in very unethical too. carbon emissions and recycling etc

Pete
I expect they got more than the value of the porker for what ever they were doing in the long run.

I think it's law that the entire thing, if not put in a museum/gallery type state have to be crushes, like CatA cars. Remember Porsche would have had loads of protos and development cars & parts. I'm sure many Supras met a similar fate. I'll ask more knowledgable people than myself. BRB.

Gazboy
Matt: As I understand it it's down to tax... I believe that whatever the car manufacturer values the prototype at (£xx million), then when the car is crushed they can offset the tax liability that would have been due on the valuation if the car was allowed to remain uncrushed... chris burford
Some of you may enjoy this but it made me feel sick.... http://www.viddler.com/explore/clint357/videos/2/ This could be a repost but feel safe in the knowledge that I couldn't give a monkeys!! H. :(I had the same feeling mate makes you sick seeing something like that when you love sports cars it was although you could see a tear rolling from its headlight. The fluids in the jar could represent the lifeblood. Wouldnt of been as upsetting though if it had been a cayenne lol
