suprascott
I was going to get one however i believe from what i have read the mk2 version will have ironed out the lack of 3G,by basically having it.Like most things when it is a first of the breed,it often pays to wait until they have ironed out all of its rough edges.Mk2 will probably be out by next week anyway,or was it yesterday.Lovely piece of kit though. Daston
A 16 year old cracked the first Iphone in the states with in 2 days of release. Someone swapped their brand new 350Z for it!
dangerous brain
So it has a simcard then contrary to what has been said earlier? So far its fudged with a bit of electronic frippery. How do you put your own simcard or network in it?
grahamc
So it has a simcard then contrary to what has been said earlier? So far its fudged with a bit of electronic frippery. How do you put your own simcard or network in it? yes, it uses a sim card. trim the already trimmed corner, and fasten the electronic "frippery" to it. works perfectly... dangerous brain
OK so its like a fixed on board chip for a simcard and then you cut the lines to that sim and provide an outlet to contacts on a new simcard?
grahamc
sort of
dangerous brain
ok so a sort of cut an shut approach doesn't bode well for those that might like to sell it on in the future if its got a fixed simcard.
grahamc
its not permanently fixed....
dangerous brain
No but telling the new owner they have to open the phone up and solder in their own sim card may put some folks off.

Supra-Dupra
each to there own mate, mine is very fast 3G or not and it's about the same size as a standard 60gb ipod and no one seems to care about how big that ipod is when its sitting in there pocket (if you want a big screen for browsing, logic dictates...).. but i suppose its what you use it for.. yes the camera isn't up to much but anyone who uses there phone for anything other than a couple of snaps (which the iphone is more than capable of) should invest in a decent digital camera... for me it's perfect as a phone, laptop, and camera and i would rate it over anything else.. but for some it may not be and should perhaps research a bit first before bying. ie size and whatever.. She has an Ipod 80GB, ipod car kit, digital camera, and a phone. I researched it pleanty and I told her all this before she bought it, and she still went ahead and bought it, then again Im very fussy about phones, prob comes from the fact I have worked in an outlet for 4 years and hold a degree in Mobile Technology and Electronics Its an amusing phone for about 24hrs, and more of a case of having the lastest thing than the best. Pete
I was thinking about it, my friend admitted to me that he finds it way to slow and expensive to use GPRS as the EDGE doesn't work here. Might as well buy an iTouch if you're only going to use wireless. I bought one at the airport today - duty free - £170 It's very good with the mail, notes, Google maps (directions), weather, Safari, Calendar, Contacts etc. It supports VPN into work and IMAP email from Exchange, as well as all the other email services AND I get to keep the Nokia as my phone that doesn't run out of battery life for 4 days. . Well happy with it.
