If its an EU country there's no limit. If you are going to bring back 1000s they will need to be the same brand else the customs will get suss. I smoke cutters choice BTW ;)

ha lol im bringing them back for me and the mrs (i jest ye not) im not going to risk bringing 1000's back (maybe around 20 packs) just want to know where is cheapest

20 packs of 200? You can get "Not genuine" Lambert and butler for 5 euros for 200. They taste the same as genuine ones. Normal price (In tenerife) was 7 euros for 200.

Even though the Czech Republic is in the EU, you can still only bring 200 fags back (about £13 a strip last time I was there), although a while ago we managed to get about 10,000 back between a few of us cuz we didn't realize what the limit was...

If you want to do a fag run, go to Andorra, it's about £8-9 a strip and you have to fly from France, so if anyone asks, that's where you bought them ;).

A bloke at work books the cheapest flight to Spain, loads a case up, full of coffin nails, and goes out on the lash for about 8/12 hours.

Then flies home, I can't remember how many cancer sticks he brings back but they last him about 4 months.

He still saves hundreds and gets a top day out in the sun getting leathered.

Bad thing is the bloke had a heart attack on Tuesday, last I heard he was 50/50 :(

Hmm managed 100,000 back from afghanistan at 10 dollars for 600. Thats the best I ever managed. They aren't so expensive here in Holland and I am coming back for the last time next weekend.

cant really get a weekend break in afghanistan at the moment, may just bloody give up (doubtfull though):D

same price as the uk then:p think you mean 50g

No, in the UK you pay £5 for a 25g pouch.........but compared to a box of fags in the UK that £5 will last 10 times longer.....and I think you didnt read my first post very carefully......."and you dont have to trip anywhere"....;)

It's not true. Limit is 200 cigarettes or 1 kg of tobacco. In practice you can bring like 4 10-packs (800 cigarettes) to airport and noone will say anything. If you want to bring more, customs can start moaning. Easiest way would be to transfer them in car as noone is really checking you. If I would still smoke, I would go for tobacco tho as you can buy 50g pack of good dutch dark tobacco in Poland for around 2,5 pounds.

Thats not correct mate. This is taken from the Heathrow site:

When travelling from the EU* to the UK you do not have to pay any tax or duty on goods you have bought in another EU country as long as tax was included in the price when you purchased the items, the items are for your own use, and have been transported to the UK by you. This includes gifts, but does not include any item that is intended to be used as payment or to be resold.

If you bring back large quantities of alcohol or tobacco, a Customs Officer is more likely to ask about the purposes for which you hold the goods. This will most likely be the case if you appear at the airport with more than:

* 3200 cigarettes

* 400 cigarillos

* 200 cigars

* 3 kg of smoking tobacco

* 110 litres of beer

* 10 litres of spirits

* 90 litres of wine

* 20 litres of fortified wine i.e.: port or sherry

Please note the following exceptions stand for these EU countries:

From Czech Republic - 200 cigarettes or 250g of smoking tobacco or 50 cigars or 100 cigarillos

From Estonia - 200 cigarettes or 250g of smoking tobacco*

From Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia or Slovenia - 200 cigarettes*

*No limit of on other tobacco products as long as they are for your own use.

* The EU countries currently include: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus (Greek part), Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Irish Republic, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (but not the Canary Islands), Sweden and the United Kingdom (but not the Channel Islands).

So, it isn't illegal to bring back more but you will have to convince the customs that they are for personal use. In reality, they are not that interested any more unless you are bringing in hundreds of thousands - cigarettes that is, not the stuff that goes on cakes :D
