Whitesupraboy2
Im after a good mobile phone, easy to use, reliable, looks good. Maybe touch screen? Must have a good camera 5mb? Any recommendations?
michael
What's good looking and easy to use to one person might not be so for others - have you actually looked at any of the online retailers to get a vague idea of what's out there? Set foot in a shop to see what they look like in reality?

Set foot in a shop to see what they look like in reality? My phone has started playing up today at work, its impossible to leave and go to a shop just yet. however was after some members opnions of what they use so I have an idea of what might be a good place to start. Generally people have the same view in something that looks good and sleek. Yes ive looked on 02, the N95 8Gb looks quite good although I havent had a chance to seek for people who have had problems. All I wanted was some opinions to give me an idea.
michael
The N95 8GB is a nice phone, no touchscreen though. Not "easy to use" for a lot of people, fine for those who are able to think for themselves and read up on things though Are you tied to a particular network provider? Budget? Multics
Got the silver N95 since June last year, it's an exellent phone, very happy so far except the battery life (need charge every day or two).

Not "easy to use" for a lot of people, fine for those who are able to think for themselves and read up on things though Are you tied to a particular network provider? Budget? Im not too worried about reading what I like is you can get some custom apps for it. Im not tied to a network however vodaphone or 02 is preferred, I dont call or text loads. although I have found vodaphone's below deal online; £35 a month unlimited txt, 500 anytime minutes and the phone free. I thought that was quite good.
michael
In my opinion an N95 is wasted if you don't have 3G access - 3G access is wasted if it costs a fortune, so for me T-Mobile on Web & Walk Unlimited was the only option really, other providers have improved since though I believe. It's nice to be able to download podcasts, music, stream TV, check mail, surf the 'net etc without worrying about download limits or excessive data costs. The N95 seems to have tapped into a good network of application developers, lots of useful stuff coming out. If you do get one you might miss the touchscreen, you might get annoyed by the small buttons and you will definitely need chargers in all the locations you visit. Otherwise it's a good choice if you update the firmware - Orange are terrible at keeping this current so a lot of users whinge about the phone being pants when it's actually their firmware release that causes the issues. I presume Sony, Samsung etc do similar phones now, on the fringes you might want to look at something like the LG Viewty, LG Venus, K850i, T-Mobile Touch Plus, T-Mobile Ameo and so on... nuttynutz
usually people find easiest to use are nokia's, not really the n95 though touch screen aint all that if you like texting alot, otherwise the lg viewty looks quite nice. i personally have the sony k850i. and love it at the moment. has three sensors on the screen which are like touchscreen but not if that makes sense, its gets abit of used to but i wished they were just simple buttons instead. i opened a new contract with t-mobile flex35 and i also got free digital photo printer and bluetooth headset thrown in free. samsung has two 5mp cams now, think its g600 and g800, 600 being smaller but lack a few functions 800 nice and chromey but abit chunky like the n95. n95 starting to get abit old now, but still quite popular, you either seem to hate it or like it with the friends i know who has used them. but it probably has the most functions out of them all, but is a brick i chose the k850i cos i think it looks the best not too big or small, alittle weighty, and has pretty much all the functions. i would suggest going to a shop and play with them all, i've probably missed out a few 5mp cam phones but cant think of them at the moment. Chris Wilson
Is the JCB "waterproof" mobile out in the shops yet? I need something like that, so I can drop it in cow muck and then hose it off. It also stops people asking to borrow it if it stinks of cow****
dangerous brain
Erm I believe chris that nokia did a "virtually indestructible" phone. I am sure it was labelled as a sport phone. It looked awful and was i think a mixture of trendy reds and blacks. You would have hated it but it was extra resilient to the environment. I am also in the market for a new contract but am being tight as fooook as I have a phone I am not changing. Its a HTC blue angel aka m2000. The joy of the HTC kit is they are all upgradeable to the latest operating system. Mine is running mobile 6 now. I love my wife's m700 as that has inbuilt GPS and seems a bit better built than the N95. That said I do like the look of the new 8gb N95. I'm not paying that sort of money for it though.
