Went there 2 year ago. Which Hotel you going to?? You have to do the self drive speedboat tour, its an amazing experience. About 20 speed boats in convoy and you have to keep up with the leader, bit scary at times but great fun. You also stop off at a lagoon for snorkelling. Glosphil
Yeah I did the speedboat thing, mad bit of fun racing around, then you snorkel up through the mangroves, bring a few underwater cameras its amazing. Parrot fish like you wouldnt believe, Watch out for the baracuda though
Soaruss
MMMMMM, cant remember now how much it was but it wasnt expensive. Found this!!! "Speed Boat Tour" - 3hrs - 39CUC pp (£22 GBP pp): We chose the early morning slot as would have rest of afternoon back at hotel. Got picked up at 8am ish and took by taxi/van (none air conditioned & very hot) about 10min down the road to the harbour. There we all put on life jackets, were given free snorkels (sealed in a bag) but we brough our own from home so didnt use it, and were given flippers too. We were then shown how to drive the boats and was told the hand signals for slowing down and speeding up etc, then the fun bit. One by one you get in the boat and are pushed out to the open water where you join a slow moving (to start with) line of boats. When the signal is given you drop the hammer and give it death, all the boats doing zigzags inline across the open water. When the boats enter the narrow twisty mangroves you must slowdown, then when it opens up again away we all went. Its been mentioned before that these boats are untippable and I would like to confirm this comment is 100% true. Every now and then the boat up ahead would make a sharpe u turn at full speed so to keep up everyone had to do the same. The boats go right on there sides round sharp corners and refuse to tip over - its so much fun, well it is for the guys, Natalie didn't stop screaming!! After 30min of driving the boats you moor them up and put the snorkels & fins on (they have masks too for those who do not have their own) and snorkel in a lagoon with a rope down the middle of it. The current is strong swimming against it but coming back is a lot easier, if your a weak swimmer keep your life jacket on and hold onto the rope. We took bread in a zip-lock bag from breakfast and the fish swarm around you in the hundreds, its an experience we will never forget (until next time anyway hehe). Then its back in the boats for another 30min of white knuckle, hair raising fun. We were back at the hotel by 11am and were in the sea by 11:05am haha. ManwithSupra
Can you chage GBP over there or does it have to be euros?
Glosphil
You can change GBP, or EURO's but not Dollars, and dont try and use any card with an affiliation to an american bank, they will get funny. Their currency is a closed currency only for tourists, the local currency is different and totally worthless.
