are they reliable? any common problems with them? (apart from there not supras :p)

I had one never caused me issues,

Cam belt is a killer most will want the engine out to do it. Watch it in the wet as the engine more or less sits on the back wheels. The higher the Rev the better.

I had a Rev 1 import, im sure they have been called the widow maker before.

The UK is the

N/A GTi T bar, has all the nice extras as its uk just not a turbo

The Imports...

N/A G limited, came in both T-Bar and sun roof

Twin Entry Turbo they did a couple of models of this some with leather seats etc

The rev1 had small breaks and 14" wheels standard, they also had a very 'lively' suspension set up

The rev 2 was given better breaks and suspension and 15" wheels standard

The rev 3 they changed a few cosmetic bits and the intake and exhaust manifolds to produce more power but at the expense of torque.

The N/A rev2/3s are about the same speed however there is a larger difference between the rev2/3 turbos, the rev3 being faster....

Hope that helps

Also the only thing I did to mine was change the clutch but it did have 120K on the clock

I had an MR2 Rev3 turbo with full leather interior. I thought it was really nice to drive as well. Only problems I had was I needed new hand brake cables, and also my rear calliper seased - which apparently I believe is quite common. Also the aerial didnt go up, it was stuck. However The car started 1st time everytime. Mine was slightly tuned as well, and had a body kit on. I sold it for £3900 with 95k miles and good service history on an M reg.

You can pick all the models up quite cheap really. T-bars, I believe sometimes have problems with the seals if not replaced and leak but not having experience of one I couldnt say for sure.

My MR2 was a UK spec Rev 1 T-bar 2.0GTi (3S-GE engine), it had done over 200k!! I had replaced the radiator and did a top end rebuild, and apart from that it was still fast and reliable. Steering was very heavy as I had fitted Lexus IS200 17inch alloys and a TRD Momo steering wheel - with no power assistance!!! I loved it, but it's not a Supra!!!
