silver supra
Hello, i just found a 97 6/MT NA for sale. i didnt know that a NA was comeing with a 6 speed. Is it a V160 getrag tranny like in the TT model? full 6 speed driveshaft and differential? thanks for the help, cu Andy
Sparky
Thats probably the SZ-R model. They all came with 6 speed boxes. Mines an SZ-R with the V161 gearbox in it! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/349531.htm
Havard
As far as I know they are the same. The SZ-r facelift came with a 6sp as atandard..... H.
Kranz
Its the latest Getrag gearbox with all the parts from the TT. The only difference is the engine is NA. Much simpler to convert to a TT
Matt H
"ive been made redundant for the 2nd time in 3 months" that must be a sh!tter!
Sparky
Yeah I really wasn't expecting it tbh. I start the police sometime within the next 4 months but now ive lost my job and i cant see myself finding a new job for a few weeks and ive got aload of bills to pay next month. Ive been in the situation before when i ahd my black supra, I sold it to a member on here and then when i got a new job i purchased another one. This just gives me the excuse to get an aerotop TT next lol

CarlT67
Not ALL SZ-Rs have 6 speed, pre face lift SZ-Rs have the five speed as well as the SZ...
Tee from China
AKAIK the facelift SZ-Rs' all use the V161 box with different ratios to the V160 and the diff is the same ratio as a normal NA at 3.7:1 as opposed to a TT at 3.2:1 with a LSD plus has a smaller clutch too, but surely easier to convert than a 5 speed or certainly an auto. Also if the info I have read is correct the RZ and the SZ-Rs' both have the Recaro seats as standard and optional extras on RZ-S and NA SZs'. The pre 96 SZ-Rs' are I think just like any other SZ and no 6 speed option and just 17" wheels in place of 16" (and according to the brochure on Mk4.com the facelift were on 16"!!) Sparky
My 1996 SZ-R doesnt have recaro seats. Ive got facelift seats which are the same shape but the headrest is all stitched into the chair rather than a seperate part.

So not all got the Recaros which shows how confusing the specs can be on JDM models! Just like some facelifts get matching rear seat trim whilst other get the plastic rears! Tee from China
just to confuse found these to pages from the same brochure and they contradict each other! Unless it means the Recaros where standard on the RZ and optional only on the SZ-R and the SR-11! I can't read Japanese so maybe this makes sense? that the Cloth seats were standard in RZ-S and SZ/SZ-Rs, Leather optional on the RZ-S and SZ only and the Recaros optional on the SR-11(?) and SZ-R only and standard on the RZ! Chris Wilson
Does the N/A Getrag six speed transmission still use a pull type clutch, like a TT?
Jezz
Does the N/A Getrag six speed transmission still use a pull type clutch, like a TT? Yep. Same mechanism, same clutch only lesser rated pressure plate.
