If a tree falls

dangerous brain

Recommended Posts

I'm not going to lie I just made that up in the hope i might sound more intelligent than I really am, so with that said, I don't understand a word of what you just said after "left open"

Ah you have to have read a couple of my other posts on a more spiritual level to be in with a shout of understanding who and where I am digging there lol

I suppose that scientifically it doesn't make a noise as our brain creates the noise when our ear receptors pick it up so if nobody was there then there would be no noise.

Of course there would be noise, just no one to hear it

Therefore working your theory backwards I would say you are wrong :D

If no-one (or nothing) hears it there is no noise only vibration in the air. It's not noise until it encounters an ear to hear it.:)

Thats kinda wrong,

the impact would still displace particles and molecules creating sound waves thus creating Noise,

just becuase we cant hear it doesnt mean it isnt there. ;)

I'm not disputing the existence of the waves. Only that in order to be considered sound the wave must be heard by something.

I'm sure we've done this before? I'll leave it up to Michael and Jakes skillz at using this half assed search facility to work that one out.

Basically if it falls and no-one is there...how do you know it fell over in the first place?

Also, I'm sure if it did fall the squirrel that was sat on it would certainly have heard some commotion...unless squirrels are all deaf? Maybe they are, and that's why their tails twitch so much - they're sensing the sound waves.

So that great bushy thing sticking out of the arse end of a squirrel is in fact not a tail, but it's ear!

Still doesn't get me any closer as to whether the tree made a noise though.

I really doubt that the max power forum gets this sort of thread, it would probably be something along the lines of "if i wear me burberry tracksuit and no-one sees me am i wearing me burberry tracksuit?"

have a search and you will find those here too :(

Not realy,

another example,.theres a distant sun a 100 million light years away in space,. because you cant see it does it mean it doesnt emit light ?

Just becuase we dont see it doesnt mean it doesnt emit light.

But if we cant see it, then how do you know it emits light?
