Car panel repair (not supra)

Not sure whether to post this in non supra technical or off-topic, but here goes...

My other car (Rover Metro) has gained a dent with scratches in the driver's front wing. Due to the age/mileage of the car, I don't think it's worth getting it professionally repaired, but I would like to lessen the visible blight if I can.

Is there an easy way to hammer out or pull out dents? I've never tried it before so I don't know if it's easy to lessen a dent, or whether it'll look like butchery if I try it. By removing the wheel arch lining I can get to the inside surface of the dented metal.

Has anyone on here used dent repair kits?

Aldi are advertising a "dent improver" kit at the moment but it's basically just a glue gun and a clamp set that fixes to the panel and lets you screw the dent out a bit - no idea how effective it is but for £6.99 it's probably worth a go? If all esle fails you have a glue gun.

I would have thought it's probably quicker and easier to try and source a used panel and just swap the whole thing over though.

Use a hammer and dolly, in simple terms a hammer an a flat or slightly curved lump of metal, hammer on outside wist holding said lump inside, you should with a little practise be able to get most of it out and then use filler to smooth off, you may end up with a couple of high spots, but a careful tap should get rid, once smoothed and shaped, just treat as any spray job.
