Matt H
Didn't think it would ever happen but I won my first poke game last night! For the first time I cleaned my mates out and walked out with the beans got to love that feeling, although I felt a bit tight taking money of everyone. Especially as on of my mates, has been in hospital over xmas and is still recovering from a heart operation (doesn’t work at the moment so is skint too), oh well, we only played for £20 each. Winner takes £40, second place plays for free. Any body place for serious cash? Not up to that standard yet myself! We played when we were in the Dominican with an American chap. He must have cleaned us out in the space of about 20mins! Just goes to show the amount of skill that goes into poker, or Texas hold’em which we usually play. Think that’s why it’s so popular, because it’s not all chance, there is a hell of a lot skill. Predominantly knowing your odds for starters, then how to raise the stakes, when to fold and how to read into others actions etc. very comprehensive So tired today, twas quite a long game, had to up the blind to quite a high amount in the end. Guest WrathChild
Once u start playing Poker, you'll never ever stop I promise you that! I started about 4 years ago and ive been hooked ever since! Not 100% true, I got hooked a couple of years ago, and my interest in the game has fallen off slightly. However when I do play and win it re-kindles my love for the game for a while. So tired today, twas quite a long game, had to up the blind to quite a high amount in the end. The blind structure plays a major role in dictating the length of a game of poker, if you really do get into it here is a good site for home games http://www.homepokertourney.com/. Lots of information on there for blind structures, timers etc etc....

Godmutha
We usually play for a 10er in each, and there's usually about 10 of us, and we allow 3 buy ins, so we play for 1st 2nd and 3rd prizes..... tis muchos fun for a 10er. Also, my other half won £480 on an online poker tournament last night so drink are on him this weekend
Gaz6002
I play poker regularly. In fact, i'm playing right now online as I'm off work with a chest infection. I play in live tourneys for quite big money sometimes and often play with my mates on a Saturday night. I never play unless there is cash involved though. I've spent far too long learning the game to waste my skills on free play.

scooby_doo_do
I won £1200 once in a table game in vegas... That was my best victory. I had 99AAA and took out 4 poeple :-) although i only play for £5 normally each round my mate's house, as we play for fun mainly but feel you need something to play for, otherwise everyone goes in every other hand. Don't think i'd enjoy that, too much to think about I never play unless there is cash involved though. I've spent far too long learning the game to waste my skills on free play. Check me out!! :gay: I won £1200 once in a table game in vegas... That was my best victory. I had 99AAA and took out 4 poeple :-) Thats a good house. I was one card off a straight flush last night that would have been good. I've never understood though why a flush is so high. I know it must be on odds, but them just seem to come about so easy

If your holdiing one of the 5 in suit, you can almost guarantee your beat by a higher suited card, and if your holding 2 in the pocket its time to be wary, but your prob in good shape

Jamesy
1 hour time limit worked a treat as it meant we played quite hard if there was over 6 of us we had some big bets going in, as you dont want the game just to peter out into a boring stale-mate. Also raise the small and big blinds every time a player is knocked out. It also means you can get quite a few games into an evening's work
JimC
the best way to do it is set a time limit on blinds. We usually play £10 buy in, with blinds doubling every 20 minutes, and you can re-buy for the first hours. With about 10 of us that is perfect. With the increasing blinds, people have to play, they cannot sit and wait for hands. If you wait till people get knocked out, that could be ages!!!
