SupraAyf
people just want the time off and do nothing the amount of people that actually come to the parades or even remember properly has gone down so much coz people dont really care and an extra day off will mean people staying in bed anyway Well said! AndyT
Just to add, have any of these e-petition things ever actually got what they wanted? I've received two returns from the gov so far. So they do count.
Kieran
I've received two returns from the gov so far. So they do count. Oh right, I remember there being one to get Tony Blair to eat ice cream whilst standing on his head or something along those lines, so always just assumed they were a load of cack and nobody actually paid any attention to them. Chris Wilson
Remembrance Sunday is a time honoured day for this. Instead of MORE public holidays they should be halved, if not quartered, we have a huge itinerant population of scroungers and idle ne'er do wells, we need to pull our socks up and rise to the challenge of the far east, not have some placebo vote on yet more time off, hidden behind a façade that to me smacks of disrespect to those who are already rejoiced and remembered at an historical and freely well supported ceremony. Pot
I've served in 3 parades in Winchcombe when I was a cadet in Pates CCF for Rememberance Day, and I've attended all other as a spectator (Although I'd gladly be a participant). I honestly respect the men and ladies who gave their lives up in both of the 'Great Wars', but they already have their day, 11/11... I think what we need is a bit of Individuailism, St Georges Day for England, St Davids Day for Wales, St Patricks for that island over there, and something for that bit of land stuck on the top of us!... Oh my god, did I just make a giggle on peoples nationality? Although it was a lame joke (Sorry to all the lame people), I think my point is true, I categorised people, but no ill feeling was meant, or posted, I think each part of the UK can have their national day, and enjoy it!... Shadow Beast
This years rememberence parade will be my first out the army, i will be going back to my old regiment to have the parade there. Back when Iraq kicked off we lost 2 good guys out there and for a few years afterwards we always did something on the anniversey of there deaths, normally a lads v Snco's football match. But this year they have decided that because we dont do it for the guys that we lost in other areas of operations, bosnia, falklands and others, there only needs to be one day that we remember them and that day is the 11th of November. There does not need to be a public day off, what will it achieve? sweet FA is what. just gives people like the others have said above another day off. richie
