mathew
a few of you might remember my thread about my stitches i had afte having a beauty spot removed well today the doc called and straight away put the shits up me by starting the convo.. ''i thought id tell you myself rather in writing...'' at this point im shaking a bit! well turns out the beauty spot was some sorta melanoma and ive now gotta go back in to have a 'bigger chunk' taken out of my shoulder. just waiting for the date which he said will be as soon as possible. im not usually one to worry but this has got me going a bit. so looks like il be having even more stitches than i have now

_Lynz_
I think this is quite a common procedure nowadays, now that people are more aware of things. Good luck though, I'm sure you'll be fine...plus it'll be a war wound to show the grandkids one day!

mathew
quick up date for those who care:) had the 'op' on thursday and all went okay. they had to inject the recently healed area from the previous biopsy which bloody hurt big time!! cut out a fairly big chunk so now i have 4 internal stitches and 6 on the outside. apparently it was a melanoma in situ which, according to the doc, was the stage before before turning malignant so got it just in time, i hope. gotta go back every 6 months for the next 5 years for checks now but no more biopsies....hopefully:)

Wierd that isn't it. A couple of years ago when the subject of losing my left leg was mentioned I was quite calm. Once everything was ok and the op was a success I was a nervous wreck worrying about what could have happened...... H.

Rob
Given the sentiments this thread has raised, let's all just have a group "self-check". I'm feeling mine now, who'll join me? Ooh that's good, say my name, say my name.
Havard
Christ, what happened there? I got Cellulitis in my left leg. Just started by kneeling down in my kitchen after doing a lot of work on my knees whilst decorating. A blister under my skin burst and infected my blood stream, it was a mixture of me not panicking and a couple of useless doctors that got me into that mess!! The infection spread like wild fire and was nearing my torso when a nurse dropped a hint about amputation to save my life.. After 10 days in hospital and 8 weeks at home we were fine and dandy!! H. Ooh that's good, say my name, say my name. My mum had three bits of advice she gave me that always stuck with me. One was "Always take a coat in the car with you in case you break down". Two was "Always 'check yourself' when you shower/bath". Can't ever recall the third on request. F***ing good job I didn't forget the second one

Ooh that's good, say my name, say my name. It's sadly ironic that this is what I was arrested for. Although checking myself on a park bench on a sunny day was probably not the best of ideas..... H.
