ShamelessTT
Well was fixing my washer jets today, fitted new ones etc. Noticed some red splashing on the intake hoses etc, red in colour!. I thought it was cos the washer jet pipe had been leaking, but its not!! I took the car out, got it nice and hot. Opened the bonnet and i could hear a slight hissing and a sound of some water bubbling once the engine was off. Well it turns out, theres a tiny tiny crack in the radiator, just by where the rad cap screws on and its very slowly loosing presure and coolant! (Look like rad cap has been over tightend or something) Anyway i checked the coolant levels and when engine was warm it was on low so i think thats a pretty lucky escape in my book. The temp guage in car is fine tho. Need new radiator any suggestions??, im a little short on money at the moment. (Do i order a toyota standard one?) SmigzyTT
not done it on a soop but i usually just leave the rad cap off and let it bubble for 2 or 3 mins. Do soops have bleed valves in the water pipes?

AndyT
Chris Wilson can supply rads which are more efficient than stock but cheaper. Also, his recommended system of avoiding air locks is as Feakins described. Cheekymonkey just got one. Look in the "Rad hose popped off" thread.
