The Raven
What did you mean by "planning lapses in a few weeks"? You need to be really careful with the local planners, they like nothing more than to let people build stuff then come along and wee all over it from a great height. Yeah i know all about that:d I need to renew it or start it in a month or so.
Rob
Oh, the 5 years, or 3 years thing.
The Raven
Oh, the 5 years, or 3 years thing. 3 years thing. Set of footings or a soak away takes care of that
Rob
3 years thing. Set of footings or a soak away takes care of that Indeed it does, I had to get a similar thing done for a site at the end of an existing retail park in Sunderland last year. A simple trench-fill sets the permission in perpetuity.
The Raven
Well took today off work to hire a mini digger and sort the soak away. WHAT FUN! never used one before i loved it. Soakaway is done, building inspector will be over in the morning. Trees next week then the oversite.

SupraStar 3000
Looking forward to the pics. I hired a mini digger last weekend to level the drive. Not as fast as a bobcat, but the caterpillar tracks made a great sound on the road. I felt like I was storming the normandy beaches in it. tbourner
Ooh nice project! We still need pics of inside the house that was finished all those years ago!!
The Raven
House The front of the house as a whole, im down the far end. Credit goes to my dad who i can say without a shadow of a doubt is my hero. He brought the house 18 years ago in a crap state and transformed it into what it is now without him i couldnt have even started to think about doing this. Not bad for a man who as his teacher told my Nan "will never amount to anything and will be lucky to sweep the roads" However i made a promise that i would have nothing to do with the other 2 bedrooms and bathroom due to the stress of 2 years building what i have now. Seems that lasted less than 1 hour after i made my mind up to start on it.
tbourner
That's amazing dude! I know it's not what you plan, but if it was ever going up for sale is it built in a way that the 3 'locations' could be sold as seperate houses? Or is it fundamentally 1 house? The Raven
As it stands its one house. Shared driveway water ect. However i could always go for change of use if we ever wanted to do that

The Raven
Trees are nearly out and what a differance its made to the drive and the garden! Lots more light no more leaf litter in my gutters! Ignore the skip, students moved out of my rental and i had to replace everything for the new lot.

The Raven
UPDATE. I now have concreate for the footings down! Tree stumps and rubbish are gone. Downside is they trashed my oil feed so no hot water for me till i put a new one in. Also i was not allowed to play on the large jcb.......until they went home for the weekend and left the keys. Think that will be it for the winter, i nearly killed myself last time working all hours on the main house so this time i will wait. Will be starting on my sons room which is a straight forward conversion jobbie soon, once again i will be doing all the work myself, apart from the plastering..............colin will do that...........probably for large amounts of haribo...............
