Wez
Hey All, Here is a website for checking your car. https://lezlondon.tfl.gov.uk/lez/vehicles/default.aspx In the last week or so the low emission zone signs have cropped up all over near where I live. Here is some more info. One of the solutions on the website if your car isnt compliant is replace the engine with a compliant one http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/vehicles/2537.aspx
Pete
Not subject to LEZ - Based on the information you have entered and information held by Transport for London (TfL), the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) does not apply to this vehicle. As long as the vehicle remains not subject to the LEZ the daily charge does not have to be paid for this vehicle when it is used in the Zone. Fair enough. Gaz6002
Amazing. So my car passes the test because their site doesn't support Irish style numberplates?

carl0s
Is this that Ken Livingstone chap adding more "motorist charging zones" to London then? I'd never heard about this one. Glad I'm not in London, although the Supra is compliant

Another way to grab more money from motorists

Another way to grab more money from motorists Yeah I gathered that, I was just a bit surprised, what with the cheek of the congestion charge in the first place, and now yet more charge types/zones. Crazy. I suppose if I'd been watching Topgear I'd probably have heard about it.

SimonB
It doesn't apply to cars, only trucks and the like:- The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) will affect older, diesel-engined lorries, buses, coaches, minibuses and large vans (exceeding 1.205 tonnes unladen weight). It will also affect other specialist vehicles that are derived from lorries and vans, including motorised horse boxes, breakdown and recovery vehicles, refuse collection vehicles, gritters, sweepers, concrete mixers, tippers, removals lorries, fire appliances, motor caravans, ambulances and large hearses (over 2.5 tonnes). carl0s
Ah, thanks Simon. I wondered why the examples were all buses and similar.

Angarak
Looks like it does apply to 'gas guzzling cars' which is basically highway robbery. http://motoring.sky.com/news_features/25-congestion-charge-confirmed.aspx A car has to pass an emissions test as part of an MOT. The MOT specifies what emissions are safe and know alot more about cars than Ken Livingstone, so how the hell can he legally charge you a fee based on emissions if your vehicles passes its MOT as set by the governing body for motor vehicles? Thank god I live up north. If anyone happens to see Kenny boy waiting for a train in the tube, please give him a friendly nudge on behalf of all motorists, preferably as the train is pulling in. Seb
Supras won't be affected as it's only cars over 3.0l that have to pay £25 if they are older than 2001.
SimonB
It's only a "fake" proposal consultation paper designed to get people's backs up so they can introduce a watered down version. None of it is actually planned, or even likely to happen.
Seb
Well the £25 charge has been confirmed today and will be starting in October. Can't see them making any changes to it prior to its introduction.

What about the high CO2 emissions of the supra, way over 300....that surely will encapsulate all of us supra owners that will drive through the zone.... More like a boot up his backside! Everytime i see that idiot on t.v he looks miserable and never smiles. Maybe he is pi$$ed off with the world and getting his own back or at his age bedroom problems? We should do a group buy on viagra and send it to the sad old man.
imi
According to the site the supra or atleast mine isnt subject to the charge. looks to me that they are targeting lorries, rescue vehicles, etc. Just check out the daily charge for those vehicles that dont comply with LEZ. How much is the daily charge? £200 for lorries, buses and coaches, and £100 for heavy vans and minibuses, which do not meet the emissions standards. You can find out more about paying the charge for the Low Emission Zone on our website.
