terribleturner
Not me thank god, but the sisters boyfriend got pulled over by the police for doing somewhere over 100mph. Any ideas what he'll be expecting roughly?? Would you belive it i got myself a Snooper G3 the other day that he was just deciding on getting. Seems he doesn't need it now
CJ
I am pretty sure that 100mph would mean an automatic ban. What sort of road was he caught on?
terribleturner
Forgot to add that he finished a ban for drink driving about 6 months or so ago. As far as the road im not really sure. I would assume that it was on a motorway. With an automatic ban, they don't do it there and then do they? It's just that you are going to be banned and there sod all to stop it. hadyn
how long would the ban be for??? 2weeks - a month?
bens747
Clean record I would think and don't quote me on this cos I ain't the beak but 3 months minimum I would suspect. But then I don't know the circumstances. Just get a good solicitor .....

Stu_Fraser
Doing over 100 is not necessarily a ban...... My dad got caught doing 101mph on a dual carriageway, he just acted really sorry in front of the magistrate and got away with six points and a 400 quid fine
jonshaw_uk
a guy in work i know what caught doing 105mph on a dual carriagway in the middle of the afternoon, he is about 60 years old. When it went to court he said that he needed his licencing for work cos he is quite a senior member of staff and needs to take his elderly mother shopping. - resulted in 2 week ban small fine + some points. If that was me due to my age and car i no i wouldnt get a 2 week ban - they make the rules as they go along My dad was caught on the same stretch of roadwhen there was no traffic and he was caught doing 99.8mph (thank good not 100mph) and he had 5 points and £60 fine but the copper pulled that pulled him over wrote on the ticket that he was caught when the roadhad loads of traffic using it - which was the reason my dad got 5 points. The Hornet
Agreed with jonshaw, If you can state you require your license for work they will not ban you. Then depending how sorry you appear to be will depend on points / fine amounts. But to be fair if he has already had a ban for DD 6 months ago he hasn't really learnt his lesson has he (according to the courts) so could still be heavy fine. jonshaw_uk
thats true hornet - but you can never tell with the law these days. i would think he will still receive a big fine

The bloke sounds like a bit of an idiot to me, just got back off 6 months ban for DD (one of the worst things to do in a car IMO) and then goes speeding. SkyJawa
IMHO he should have his licence taken for good. Sorry to sound harsh but being done for drink driving is low, but to have only got off that ban 6 months ago to be done again.....
DaveRex
Giving a letter saying you need your licence for work does not always mean you don't get a ban ! Believe me I know, and I had no prior convictions at all
terribleturner
Totally agree with you Boneyard and Skyjawa. I hope he gets all that's coming to him to tell you the truth. He works for Mars on the factory line somewhere so he doesn't need a car. He was actually caught on the A404 which is a dual carrageway between The Cressex Roundabout near Wycombe and the junction for Marlow. I can't belive he didn't see them the t$£t. It actually turns out also that it was one of these vans with the camera infront of it. He said he could see the bloke in the back looking at the screens. Oh, and the icing on the cake is that it's also possible that he got flashed as well the other day.
DaveRex
those vans are so visible on that bit of road though, theres only two laybys !!
how_supra
those vans are so visible on that bit of road though, theres only two laybys !! What I don't understand is the guy lives in Maidenhead, he must have noticed the vans out over christmas, they were there on many different occasions. Stupid boy, bring on that ban thats what I say, nothing short of what he deserves!!! They only good thing about him, is that he has a nice set of alloys on his car. :alien: :alien:
DaveRex
The police are very pro active along that stretch of road at the best of times (I work in Marlow) Doing 100 down there is very risky and dare I say it a bit daft I reckon he will get banned for quite a long time given then history
