Review: Aliens vs Predator: Requiem

Its more a fanboy/comicbook fan's dream.

You say that but I've read most of the books, love the games and concept etc but thought the first one was utter garbage. I was hoping that they'd learned from their previous mistake but from what I've heard so far it's shite.

What it would need is a mid to high budget, James Cameron and about 3-4 years for James to make it. Look at T1 and T2 films that were not rushed both of them Materpieces, then look at T3 which was rushed.

Alien was brilliant, Aliens by James Cameron, for it's time was amazing then they just fizzled out.

I thought Alien ressurection was good, not as good as Alien & Alien's but good in its own right, the same with T3 but to a lesser extent.

Aww bugger it, I was really looking forward to this. I thought the first one was great. I don't read too much into films, I just see them as the basic entertainment they're meant to be and the first one was fantastic imo. I agree with the James Cameron comment though. He's the man. I did think Alien was crap because fcuk all happens for 95% of it and Terminator was good for it's time but for me it's T2 all the way. His big budget jobbies like Titanic were amazing also.

The thing that annoys me though is when a successful film title is used to make a new film with a totally diferent cast and more importantly in some cases, the director. For example T3. Kool film BUT not exactly T2. No James Cameron, a rushed job and a w@nky certificate meaning less Terminatorisms. Also Tokyo Drift - WTF. Good film in it's own right but why use the title - The first is the greatest to me easily. Second was ok but then with TD it's all change so why not just call it Tokyo Drift and make the film as it is and stand it on it's own legs. Car fans will see it regardless !!!

Yup and thats why they've went for a totally different approach for this one and not the PG12 (or whatever the rating was) the first was. I think it had a R rating in the US.

It upset so many of the "hardcore" that had been waiting for the movie for 10-15 years. I think its always tough with a concept like this to please everyone. The fanboys want a 100% true representation of the comics/books and an 18 cert film like the original Alien/s and Predator but the studios want the widest possible audience to cash in on. Therefore the minority are left unappeased (me included). :(
