merckx
I keep losing the pic on Sky, I get a message saying "your viewing card isn't inserted correctly". I pull the card out and push it in again and the pic comes back on, giving it a wipe doesn't do anything. It's happening every few days or so, it really pisses me off when I've set the video and it records a blue screen. Is this likely to be the card or is it the digibox? MichaelG
I had a similar problem, turned out to be my card, if your digibox is connected to your phone line, they can check the card functionality down the line by doing various tests. They should then send out a new one and deactivate the old one if its that. Failing that the box will be faulty, but in that case they should also arrange an engineer to come out F.O.C and replace it. They are very good that way. merckx
Hope it's just the card, I've had the digibox for longer than 12 months so it won't be under guarantee.
MichaelG
Am not sure it works like that mate, we used to have a simple Sky System before we had digital, and because you pay a constant subscription to them, they kept free maintenance on their equipment provided to you, provided that it wasnt damaged or malfunctioning due to user negligence. You will prob find its just the card anyways, give them a bell !
terribleturner
You've probably already done it, but have you unplugged your digibox for a few minutes then plug it back in?? Does the picture freeze up just before it happens?? Where is the box?? Between vhs? dvd? tv? other?
merckx
I used to have problems with not getting certain channels, a little bit of research revealed there was a problem with the digibox power supply. It's supposed to be fairly common with the Grundig box. I bought the kit available and replaced most of the capacitors, it's okay now. The picture's gone off 3 times tonight, normally it's just every few days. The picture doesn't freeze, you just get the same blue screen that you would get if you switched onto a channel that you hadn't payed for. The output from the box goes into the video and then into the TV via scart and coaxial. I assumed I didn't have a warranty because after the first 12 months I extended the guarantee but haven't bothered for the last 3 years. I'll have to give Sky a ring! terribleturner
Yeah, im going with faulty card here. See what SKY say and make sure that they go down the card route first. You don't wanna have to pay for unneccassary work.
