Bizarre wiper observation

Recommended Posts

When I had my windscreen changed, the guy doing the fitting told me the arms (not the wipers, the actual arms that are bolted to the car) were the wrong way round (drivers side on on the passengers side and visa versa)...its marked, apparrently, under the cap at the bottom of the arm. I haven't had a real oppertunity to test it yet but I actually think my problem with clearing the screen at high speed has improved if not been totally irradicated!

I was a tad surprised but for those of you with wiper problems above 70mph then it maybe worth checking as some incompetent fool may have put them on the wrong way round whilst changing your screen in the past!

Or my new screen is so clean and smooth that it just seems better.

As it happens, my wipers are pretty bad at high speeds.

One strange thing I've noticed is that the drivers side wiper arm cannot be pivotted up very far (when washing the car), as it hits the edge of the bonnet. In fact, I took a chunk of paint off the bonnet by doing just that.

Is anyone elses mkiv supra like that, or do I have the wrong wiper arms?

James.

So that's what caused it. Mine has the paint chipped off the bonnet just there too. But my wiper pivots up just fine, so I guess Tim must have adjusted it at some time. :)

JSpec Germany - I had a problem with my washers too, thought the rear may not be connected. It turned out to be a build up of limescale in the jets, I used a needle and so limescale remover (I used FE750 from work), it might take a few atempts but mine work perfectly now.
