Gaz6002
I'm willing to bet he'll have to allow it on some kind of virus/firewall type software to get it to work. Also, have you installed all service packs and recent updates?

Gaz6002
OK, check Norton mate. There will be a function to "allow" certain sites. Check that this is one of the URLs you want to visit. It might be as simple as that. If not, Can you do a traceroute to the mkivsupra.net IP (as WSB2 posted, the IP) and tell us where it times out? To do this in XP: Start>run>[type]CMD>[type]tracert 85.232.35.135 (everywhere i've written [type] means you have to type something) Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs but I'm working to the lowest common denominator here and don't have any idea of your IT skills
Gaz6002
bugger just seen you are using Vista. Not sure if it's different. The only mates I've got who use it call me for help
Gerry
Vista -- no Start - Run ! Turned firewall off and still the same. If you can't help, no big problem, I can use my desktop and work until I can find a Vista guy.

For reference I get 11 hops and it works fine here. Mike
MrRalphMan
The tracert is a good idea. If it was Norton of Vista killing the connection, I would have expected a message to come up, but would not put too much money on it. Have you tried connecting to the IP address? http://85.232.35.135 Maybe some strange issue with Vista and your ISP's DNS servers.. What OS is the desktop running? Try: click start, All Programs, Accessories, then click on Command Prompt then type tracert 85.232.35.135 Let us know your findings. Don't post them up though, just tell us the last IP address that you can see. If it goes all the way to the specified IP then just say that. Guest 96FaceLifted
Dunno if this might work for you but i had something similar with a customers laptop and i ended up uninstalling norton and putting on another program for them and everything works fine for them. Thats basically all i did, removed norton and it worked fine for them. Wont say it might work but can try it out. PS- Disabling norton will still cause it not to log on to some websites. That is another option but somewhat of a last resort as it's rather hard to get rid of Norton fully. Especially for a newbie on any given OS. Ended in Trace Complete Numbers on left finished on No 13, says 13 25 ms 25 ms 26 ms mkivsupra.titaninternet.co.uk OK so that means your computer can contact the site. Time to check Norton. Look for anything that might control your browsing. Also, whilst I mention it, look out for anything blocked specifically by your firewall. Go into the settings for both AntiVirus (AV from now on ) and Firewall (FW )
